2017 3008 Rear Suspension Noise
Hi all,
Had the rear discs & pads changed late yesterday on our 2017 3008 1.6 HDI. On the drive home I was hearing some pretty noticeable thuds/bangs from what sounded like the rear of the car, which weren't there before the disc/pads change.
I have always found the suspension to be relatively quiet, hence why I was quickly aware of these new noises. When the mechanic changed the discs/pads, it was on a ramp and jacked up from what looked like the vicinity of the suspension/axle, rather than the jacking points.
Is it possible something might have been unseated when the suspension decompressed on lowering or should I be looking at other things?
Btw, the boot was empty and seatbacks/parcel shelf locked in place.
Cheers

Re: 2017 3008 Rear Suspension Noise
The vehicle must only be lifted at the stated jacking points shown in the vehicle-specific manual (this is an example only and not necessarily for this 3008).
Take it back to them and I'd be getting them to pay for any damage caused, as something certainly isn't right.
EditThis vehicle has a multi-link suspension system at the rear so the question is have they jacked it up on something they should not have and damaged any components?

Thanks Marc.
It's going back tomorrow, so I shall see what they find. For some reason I thought the lower powered versions like my own had a simple torsion beam at the rear?

Ok, so wasn't sure I had the VIN for this particular 3008 - can you confirm it is the VIN ending 8805 and I'll check as I think this may have a different setup?
If it is then you have the following rear axle setup, so ignore the multi-link suspension info I posted above, that's for a different model and I'll remove that shortly.
As for lifting, again the vehicle should only be raised at the official; jacking points.

Re: 2017 3008 Rear Suspension Noise
For anyone interested, which is unlikely, the culprit was a slightly loose caliper bolt. All quiet and smooth again.

Re: 2017 3008 Rear Suspension Noise
Any chance there is a part number for item 9 in the diagram above please? Or if generic how is it mounted? Just failed a car test because one of mine is missing :/GiveMeABreak wrote: 13 Jul 2023, 10:59 Ok, so wasn't sure I had the VIN for this particular 3008 - can you confirm it is the VIN ending 8805 and I'll check as I think this may have a different setup?

Re: 2017 3008 Rear Suspension Noise
I’m such a bad forumite and advice taker. I’ve Hijacked the thread And I’m off work so applied myself too much I’m afraid. I went ahead and ordered two new ones from a French eBay shop. The OE number is 9813587180 but I’m fairly confident they are the same part.

Now any knowledgeable sports with guidance on removal of old (hammer I’m thinking) and fitting of new (push fit should be drama free), feel free to chime in
