Sphere identification help

Unread post by lux »

Dear FCF,
i would like to thank you for all the info that i found here, leading up to me buying a xantia.
I would like to service the suspension, and start by changing the front accu. sphere and rear anti sinnk sphere.
I am having trouble with ordering and identifying the OEM part number for my car, so I would like to ask for your help with my problem.
I am aiming for I.F.H.S. spheres, as i read online that they are the best to go for.
My VIN number is VF7**************[VIN obfuscated, can be read by forum staff].

Kind regards,
Luka ?ureš from Croatia.

When you replace the rear anti-sink sphere be aware it has a hydraulic pipe screwed into the back of it and this must be loosened and the pipe removed from the sphere before the sphere is unscrewed from its mount... Failure to remove the pipe first will seriously damage it.

Also, despite its name, this sphere has absolutely nothing to do with the car not sinking or otherwise... It is badly named in the respect! It is an auxiliary brake accumulator and was added to the system when anti-sink suspension was introduced - hence its name...

Okay, so, i have trouble identifying the spheres by the manufacturer I.F.H.S.
I can't make sense of the original Citro parts reference number and the ones provided by sites that sell IFHS.
Would you kindly point the finger for me on which should be chosen.
I was trying to identify them on this website:
https://moto-dynamic.com/products,2?pag ... =%ef%80%82
Maybe i am too uptight with the IFHS spheres, if you can recommend another high quality manufacturer, i am listening.
Thanks in advance

Normally you don't need to know part numbers when ordering spheres...

You should always be able to do it by car model... There is nothing special about the spheres on your Xantia and any supplier, upon enquiry, should be able to supply a suitable set.

If they cannot then they are not good to deal with...

Have you seen https://frenchcarforum.co.uk/wiki/Sphere_Table ?

I would say that it is better to know what you want, as I have known more than one sphere supplier who would supply comfort spheres unless asked ot to.

Just to clarify: the spheres in the diagram are front and rear hydractive regulator spheres but the OP said front accumulator. I am wondering if it's the main accumulator he means? Is this for a hydractive Xantia?

OP's signature suggests he has an SX Graeme so would be a non-hydractive...

And good to see you again in this virtual world :) I trust you are keeping well...
