C4 Grand Picasso (Mud flaps/guards) ?

Post by tizdaz »

Hi guys, i just received a full set of moulded mud flaps for my C4GP (2014).

Instructions seem straightforward, but one thing I'm not sure about is where to screw into to fix them in place!.

Do i attach the flap by screwing into the metal 18mm lip of the wheel arch (which means i would need to drill small pilot holes) or do i screw onto the plastic splashguard that seems to be clipped onto the metal lip?

My splash lining has no screws showing so i cant remove screws and use them, im guessing the splash guard just clips on?

Any info much appreciated!

Are these the original Citroen Accessory mudflaps for you specific C4 GP? If so, they should come with illustrated instructions on how to fit - hence my question.

I would have thoughit unlikely they would have you drill into the metal lip on the wheelarch. Normally if they are attaching to the metal lip they normally get clamped on.
Just the other week i fitted a genuine Peugeot set of front mudflaps to my uncles car for him & they get pop riveted on, first i had seen that. A metal pop rivet into a plastic wheelarch liner.

Hi guys :)

Thanks for reply's... The mud flaps i have are not the genuine ones, but they are specifically for my model (or so the advert said!!)

I haven't fixed them in place yet but i did put them against the wheel arch & the rear ones seem to fit perfectly, the front ones however i have the issue of they do fit snug to the wheel arch etc & fit perfect, but the issue is the furthest hole on the wheel flap has nothing to fasten to as it hangs out from off the wheel arch!

Hard to explain but tomorrow i shall grab a couple of photos, i think it will fit ok i just may need to to trim the flap a little. Also the screws the flaps came with are not very good so i ordered some torx self tappers with a larger washer head!

In worse scenario i will keep the rear ones as like i say they fit perfectly but the front ones i may purchase the OEM ones if i cant get these to fit properly.

So should i just screw them into the plastic splash guard? because like i say, the instructions show that i remove the screws holding the splash guard in place on my GP, but my GP does not have any screws showing where the splash guard is, so I'm a little confused!?

Thanks again guys!

ok i got a screenshot of the mud flap with the issue i have, I've circled the screw hole in red colour where the issue is, this is the screw hole that just hangs out in thin air (nothing to fix to behind it!).

I've also outlined in green colour the section of the mud flap that has nothing to fix to, this is the part of mud flap that hangs over beyond the splash guard in my wheel arch. So I'm thinking i may have to trim this part of the mud flap?

bit of a long shot, but does anyone have any image of the actual OEM front mud flap for the 2014 Grand Picasso for me to compare?

Thanks guys :)

Yes, they are are a completely different shape and in the case of you vehicle-specific ones come with a single bracket and 2 rivets. That's why I only ever buy original mud flaps as they are designed specifically for the vehicle.

Citroen ones have 2 specific holes that are drilled only and these are rivetted on and a single clamping bracket fitted on the other side on the sill ridge. So you are only drilling 2 small holes at specific locations through the wheel arch splash shield only and then attaching the rear with a bracket over the sill to secure. That's how the custom ones are fitted at the front.

Here are some pics the front ones:

Pic flap C.JPG

So either bodge it with the ones you have in the knowledge that these are not designed for your vehicle, or send them back and get a proper set. Expect to pay around £50 for the fronts and similar for the rears if you want bespoke OEM sets. They usually last the life of the car if you don't go over raised kerbs or similar.

hi guys!

well, a little bit of an update (i also feel kind of dumb!!)

I had a go today at fitting the mud front flaps, turns out the left hand side splashguard that the mud flap is meant to fasten to is damaged!! ...this was the reason why i thought i had the wrong type of mud flaps, the other side (driver side) went on perfectly :)

So i now need a new splashguard (passenger side front) I'm going to have a go at replacing it myself, I've had a little look online for tutorials etc but cant really find any info on replacing it, Is it a straight forward job? I know i have to remove the wheel, but other than this, is this the only thing i need to remove to remove & replace the splashguard?

Or do i need to remove more to fit it?

This is the one for my vehicle:

Thanks guys :)

Also guys what is the difference between this: https://www.bestpartstore.co.uk/1626820 ... pair-panel and the one i posted above (apart from price!) ? both from different shops, one looks like complete unit other says "Repair Panel" ?

I'm guessing its the complete unit i need?

That's not an original part, so can't help you. Best discuss that with the aftermarket seller as they are not Citroen original parts and neither are the mud guards.

I'm confused as to what you are trying to do, that link is the wheel arch splash trim. Why would you want to replace that if you are fitting mud claps?
