I would think so, but you've got the meter on 200 ohms only, did you try any of the larger scales? It might be more than that, but since it's giving a duff reading, I'd be inclined to think it was dead!

Just go through the various resistance settings and see if you get a reading on any of them.

Ok this may help, so the exhaust gas temp sensor is '4' below. The resistance is measured in KiloOhms (1000 Ohms = 1Kohm). So the resistance you are getting '1' would be about right for a temperature of 149 °C if you look at the graph below. The higher the resistance, the colder the gases are. There's not much room after about the 150 °C temp, as the line bottoms out. So the only way to tell of the temp sensor is faulty is allowing the car to completely cool down (say overnight and be ready to test it with everything connected) so that you can re-check the reading. If it's the same as before, then you may well have a faulty sensor.

You would need to let the car completely cool down, get it set up ready and then test it when the engine is cold to see of the Resistance goes up as shown in the table depending on exhaust gas temperature.

(4) Particle filter upstream temperature sensor.
"a" Pressure take-off upstream of the particle filter.
"b" Pressure take-off downstream of the particle filter.

"R" Resistance R (In Kohms ).
"T" Coolant temperature (°C).

The NTC (Negative Temperature Coefficient) resistance value "R" changes in relation to the change in the temperature "T":
When the temperature "T" increases, the resistance value "R" decreases
When the temperature "T" decreases, the resistance value "R" increases

Useful info Marc, the meter needs to be set to 200k setting to get a sensible reading.

Ok slow reply again apologies

Few pictures to show my findings, no other readings on other settings.

Also found this tread online so looks like someone else has the same issue.

https://citroenc3owners.com/questions-a ... t4590.html

I've a 200 mile round trip tomorrow so will see what happens, but i scanned the car straight after fitting a new sensor and the scan showed the temperature of the sensor was 149°C ...

Thanks again all

Apologies I've just put a post up and then realised others have already posted (not getting email notifications for some reason)

That's all very interesting information thanks for that info,

That's what i love about car forums it's the knowledge of others it's just great.

Thanks again all

Morning all

Well i done a global scan this morning before my journey and no fault codes was showing.

So i then proceeded to drive 80 to 90 miles doing a live scan, shortly after starting my journey the orange triangle with the explanation mark by the milage came on and the centre consol displayed the message "RISK OF PARTICULAR FILTER CLOGGING"

car carried on driving fine and then stopped to upload data here, exhaust temperature sensor still showing 149°C

After this video i done a global scan and car now showing fault code P1490 see video showing the information.

I really do not understand what is causing the issue.

Many thanks

Well finally made some progress, removed the DPF to clean it loads of red Ash came out of it and it was amazing to see.

It was like if you had a red house brick and ground it down to dust that came out of the DPF when washing it.

I left it to stand in a container for 24 hours submerged in wynns off car DPF cleaner.

Came up a treat, I refitted back onto car and reset the car saying a replacement DPF fitted, and cleared previous fault codes,

Cars running fine now not getting any fault codes, no limp mode, and car is doing a regeneration fine.

Would just like to say a massive thank you to you all for your help.

Here is the readings from either side of the differential pressure sensor after cleaning and refitting.

Many thanks again all

Well done - cracking job. A lot of the stuff that blocks the filter is the Cerine in the additive. It's this that can't be burned off during regeneration and eventually leads to blocking. It is iron based, so hence the red tinge.
