C4 2010 2.0 Hdi issues help needed.
Hi all
Having a few minor issues with my new to me C4 in my sig.
First one is i have a leak, which is part of number 2 so will explain.
I have a leak of fluid that is appearing itself on the front drivers side crossmember just in front of the front wheel, it looks at first glance to be engine oil when you put your finger on the drip on the subframe, but my gut feeling is that it is hydraulic oil as it dries on the floor in a similar way to LHM, a dark stain but not the way engine oil does.
I have a similar issue to others with the 2.0 HDi engine with the dipstick being broken, it was not on inspection when viewing the car prior to purchase so am in a position where i cannot rule out an engine oil leak.
Coupled with this i have an issue with the dashboard oil level check which is coming up as "Oil Level Invalid " so did a Lexia session and it is reporting a fault with the oil level but cannot remember the code.
Now i think the leak is Brake fluid related as the pedal travel is way too much and does not seem to have resistance, a bit like the brake bleeding process without the resistance if that makes sense yet the fluid level seems to be within the marks.
So can anyone tell me the part number for the oil dipstick, hoping it is the same as used on my C5 as i can interchange them to manually check levels as a first step.
Next question is i have looked at what i believe is the oil level sensor on the sump, is that a simple unscrew and replace, i get the feeling the sensor is faulty but still reporting ?

Thanks Marc
Would i be correct in saying that part #7 is the one that is responsible for the on dash message about oil level that has a plug socket on the end of it, sorry for non mechanical terms
The dipstick #9 ( not referring to me this time ) is the updated version i guess so both parts for £40 + vat from Citroen is something i can live with, all i need to do now is work out what and where the leak is

Yes you would be correct about no 7 Colin. Assuming your plug is fitting properly on the existing one?
I used to be indecisive, now I'm not so sure!

The leak could be power steering fluid.
The pump and reservoir is in front of the RF wheel

Thanks for the replies, quick update
It appears the leak is in fact coolant and is coming from the water pump
I have a receipt saying the cambelt/water pump had been done so more than a little bit miffed but depending on quality of parts used etc at least it is not something very expensive like ABS block/ brake servo etc etc .
Warranty i have is not worth the paper it is written on, not when i have to take it back to them to sort it so gonna cost me around £400 to get it re done but worth it for peace of mind.

I also have another 2 leaks deep joy
1 is from the N/S drive shaft and is gearbox oil related, believe it is just a seal but needs doing.
The other is engine oil and appears to be coming from the back of the engine high up so will be getting sorted at the same time, and just for good measure having the oil changed and oil/fuel/air filters done.
Apart from these little inexpensive issues really happy with the car

Re: C4 2010 2.0 Hdi issues help needed.
Can anyone confirm that the dipstick is the same part number for both the C4 and the C5 in my Vin list please as the C4 is booked in tomorrow and typically the dipstick was not delivered today to Citroen, although the level switch was, so would like to have a complete one in the C4 when it goes in tomorrow.
Thanks in advance
Colin

Okay not sure its a "lemon" but it is getting used to being warm and dry in a garage that has 4 post lifts and pits
Would it be possible to have the part number and cost for the front springs on said C4 from Citroen, going to have to get a pair but o/s/f has broken and not a happy bunny lol

Well i think although it is Babylon Red in colour it is defo lemon ( Money Pit ) in disguise
Really need some advice on a way forward now.
All other work has been undertaken both front springs and the filter changes and the oil level sensor fitted as i requested and the cost is ok as i needed the service parts done and the springs are just one of those things so another £350 put into the car.
However both drive shaft seals are leaking and i get the feeling that i am going to have to go down an expensive route.
My trusted garage are telling me they cannot get the seals on there own, yet to discuss with them how to change them if they could get them but logic states the box needs to be removed to fit them if they could get them.
So if i have to pay to get the box removed and then sent somewhere for the seals to be replaced and then refitted would i be better off just getting a reconditioned box to swap it with ?
No point going for a 2nd hand box with a warranty not worth the paper its written on and whilst its out just as well do a clutch change.
Open to suggestions but its gonna cost either way round and the leaks are just weeps at the moment but need to get it sorted sooner rather than later.
No point going back to where i got it from as it would cost me so much in time and hassle and to be honest i wouldn't trust them to sort it anyway.
Yep gonna keep it apart from a few minor issues its a cracking car when it gets out the workshop

The right seal comes on its own 1675689680 £21.74 +vat
The left seal 9822498280 £47.05 + vat & comes in a little housing.
What makes you think you need to remove the box to change the seals??
The one than cone with the housing is held on with 4 bolts & sealed with RTV.

Re: C4 2010 2.0 Hdi issues help needed.
You are an absolute legend, i am going on advice that the seals are not available hence the question about swapping the box for a recon one.
I assume the parts and prices are from Citroen and are still available.
