Xantia Parts Request
I've got a part number request too when you have a moment.
For M728 GDL, VIN to be added to signature at some point today.
Cooling system hoses:-
a) The one that runs across top of cam cover and drops into the back of the fuel filter housing and down behind first glow plug. It has a T-piece in it up top.
b) One at rear of engine (probably got to be worth doing whilst cylinder head is off...
May want other cooling system ones but don't know as yet.
c) the breather from the cam cover (think it goes to oil filler?)
d) diesel supply pipe that comes up from back of engine to fuel pump (from memory - car not with me at mo)

Re: Xantia Parts Request
Now added VIN, Marc.
However, please be aware it is a mackle-up of the first part of N707 MGP and the actual last 8 digits of M728 GDL...
Hope it works. Let me know. If not, I'll have to trouble my mate to check it.

Re: Xantia Parts Request
Hi wheeler.
I managed to split a tiny bit of it where it kicks back towards the cambelt. Should be alright... Fingers crossed.
Looking at that diagram, I am guessing it's no. 4 but I would need to look at it next time I am with the car.
No. 1 would be worth doing I think.

As for the parts I take it you have the info you need from Wheeler now - if not let me know.

Re: Xantia Parts Request
I think I've got pipe No4 but i bought it for my 1.9td (without ac) & I'm not sure what other vehicles/engines it will fit. I think i posted a photo of it on the "for sale" thread for my own car.
Music keeps me going.

Re: Xantia Parts Request
Thanks guys.
Once I have assessed the condition of the cylinder bores and head, I'll be in touch.

I haven't fully assessed my heater matrix pipework as yet but how much are you looking for for pipe No.4 please?
I'll upload a photo of mine. My mate reckons it has a problem but I think the stains are from when I flushed the engine with spirit vinegar as I left the top bleed cap off for probably an hour and just kept adding hot water to the expansion tank.

Re: Xantia Parts Request
I would advise leaving the heater matrix connector alone, as they are usually well stuck in place, and there is a chance of breaking the connector or matrix when you try to separate them.

Re: Xantia Parts Request
I would dearly love to but I am 100% I could smell vinegar in the car after I flushed it so needs must! Heater matrix needs replacing methinks. Trust me! I really don't want to do the job because it is a 10 hour job unless anyone knows any useful shortcuts? I did it on Sylv's ZX and the damned thing went again 18 months later... It's sat on the drive for 8 years!xantia_v6 wrote: 08 Sep 2021, 11:10 I would advise leaving the heater matrix connector alone, as they are usually well stuck in place, and there is a chance of breaking the connector or matrix when you try to separate them.

Re: Xantia Parts Request
Agreed, if it was me id leave it alone too unless i was prepared to change the matrix, they can and do snap. If i wanted to flush it I would remove the hoses at the engine end & do it that way. Your choice of course.xantia_v6 wrote: 08 Sep 2021, 11:10 I would advise leaving the heater matrix connector alone, as they are usually well stuck in place, and there is a chance of breaking the connector or matrix when you try to separate them.

I think the matrix is holed.
I know I can't face doing it with the cylinder head back in place. Just having this amount of access makes me think it will save at least two hours. It was horrendous on the ZX to change. Getting access to the cover plate was nigh on impossible. BoL says you should remove the rocker cover for better access!
