C8 Gear Selector

Hi All,

I have a 2008 C8 173 2.2HDi Auto which refuses to go into park. My garage says it needs a new gear selector and I sourced one from France Auto (part no. 1400176480) but apparently it is the wrong one so I have had to return it. If I supply my VIN, could anyone please advise the correct part number so I can start my search again?

Ok, so the gear selector is item (1) which also includes the selector unit (A) and the control cable (2). The Citroen part number for this combo is: 2400GJ, but is no longer available from Citroen.

However, if it is the control cable alone you need (item (2)), then that is available.

1608888480 is the control cable alone £130.63
1440160380 is the sheath retainer for the above £32.10

Prices from Citroen today and VAT inclusive.

Both are usually needed together

I would double check that - as it often can be the cable itself.....

I don’t want to put a downer on this but there are only about 160 2.2 173 autos registered in the uk, plus a similar number of 807s. That’s not far off how many were sold originally.

So, I would have thought therefore that there’s only a very slim chance of finding it on EBay and I guess a LHD will be different.

Good luck though, from a fellow 173hp C8 owner who absolutely loves his car !

The left hand drive version of the AM6 selector unit is indeed a different part as Julian mentions, but the underlying control cable is the same for both.

Also if searching 2nd hand the mk2 Fiat Ulysse is essentially a C8/807.

I’m certainly not sure about this but I have a feeling that Fiat didn’t use the twin turbo 170/173 hp engine in the Ulysse.

Thanks for all the responses. As Julian suspected, I was unable to find the part. However, my local independent mechanic 'modified' for me and it happily goes into park now.
