Citroën C4 Mk2 Dead instrument speedo LCD

Post by lithski »

Hi all,

Citroën C4 Mk2 Hatchback
2011
2.0 HDi Exclusive

The centre speed LCD display is out and not working, I wondered if anyone can help diagnose the fault, or if you know where this can be reparied?

I have attempted to attach a photo.

Thank you!

Hi

It's very likely the Matrix Display has failed and needs to be replaced. Pop your VIN up and I can check whether you have the removable one or not.

Thanks Marc, much appreciated!

I will reply with the VIN when she gets home from work tonight.

And inevitably... How do I remove the instrument cluster from the dashboard? I have spent several hours searching the net with no success.

Thanks again

I can probably help with that - but I'll need your VIN to confirm exact model and system you have first. Your VIN will also be automatically masked from public view once you submit the post, only staff can read it, so please just type it out in full with no spaces.

Hi

Ok, so you can replace the dot matrix unit from the back of th e instrument panel on your car.

You can buy either a new one pre-configured with the correct settings from Citroen or an unconfigured one that you will have to programme yourself with Diagbox.

If you want correct part numbers we ask for a min £10 donation to the Forum (see below) that will cover you up to 2 years for parts enquiries (as we are charged by PSA now).
A response to your question by a Forum Admin will require detailed vehicle information that requires you to have made a current contribution to the Forum.

This will upgrade your member status. I can then post up something to help you with removing the instrument panel.

Hi Tim

Thanks for the Forum donation.

There are 2 types of instrument cluster. You have the type marked as item (2) below that allows for the matrix (3) to be replaced.

6155JA was the original Matrix Part Number which needs configuring and has now been updated with Part: 1613424380 which is the newer model. It costs £450.73 from Citroen as of today inc. VAT.
1606616780 is the part number for the Clips, item (70) (£6.07 inc. VAT).

As it turns out the configurable part is no longer available.

I will put together a quick illustrated guide for removing the display shortly with a link.

Thanks Marc,

Much appreciated, do you have the part number of the enitre instrument cluster (item 2) too in case I can find a used part, with lower mileage.

Kind regards

Hi Tom

I've put up a guide in the Resources section for you here:

C4 (B7) / Citroen DS4 Instrument Panel Matrix Removal / Replacement

I've updated my earlier post above as I forgot to include the securing clips that may snap on removal (see guide).

The Instrument Panel Item (2) is replacement part number: 9812834580. Remember only the higher of the 2 mileages of either the BSI or the instrument panel will be set once connected - so be sure if replacing the instrument panel that it is near or below the current mileage of you vehicle as I'm sure you know :-D

Thank you for the helpful info on how to get the intrument cluster out.

@GiveMeABreak Can you tell me how to configure a new dot matrix unit for my instrument cluster with diagbox? What do i
My car has a monochrome matrix and I want to replace it with a colour version.
It was not pre- configured I think, so I doubt it will be plug and play?

Thanks!

@ Skipolena:

It might not be an option - depends on the electric architecture of the vehicle whether it will support a different unit.

Pop your VIN up so I can see what you have.

Thanks for the quick reply, when I get home tomorrow I will get the VIN for you.

I saw the same thing on the DS4 Facebook page, that was the same version car I have (2011 DS4 Dsport). But he bought a used instrument cluster and swapped the matrix unit.
I just bought a new matrix, but then I found out it needs to be configured?

Yes, you'll need to configure options like the following when replacing the matrix display:

Vehicle Speed Limiter, Oil Gauge, Cruise Control, Stop Start, Memorised Speeds Recall, Body Type etc.

Will the full version of diagbox be able configure those?
