Re: DS4 heater blower
It shouldn't be too difficult, just get some trim removal tools:
Using trim removal the tools, unclip:
Clip (at "b")
The trim (1) (at "a")
The diagram shows a left hand drive, but is a symmetrical operation on both sides.

Re: DS4 heater blower
Hi guys, quick update. I conducted a quick experiment, and it worked! I closed all the vents in the car, turned the heater on manual and up full, then blasted down the central air vent with a blow gun from my compressor and hey presto the fan spun up! No trim or motor removal necessary. Dont know if this will work for everyone but its surely got to be worth a try! Peace ✌

Re: DS4 heater blower
This is what can happen - the motor bearings can stiffen up with water condensation over time - and as the blower motor resistors are only designed to slowly spin up the motor, they have insufficient welly to get the motor going. A temporary direct shunt on full power (bypassing the resistor temporarily) will often kick start it, but you'll find this may happen again and again.
On a homeward bound journey it may be helpful to turn the climate control up to a warmer / hotter temperature for the last leg home and that may help keep the heater unit warmer and reduce condensation, but ultimately it may require a blower motor unit replacement at some stage when it gets worse.

Re: DS4 heater blower
Yeah, had figured it was only a temporary fix but I will take it as a win for now at least! I also have my trim removal tools now so when it does die for good I'm all set for the replacement of the motor. Peace

Re: DS4 heater blower
Good morning. Have a new problem now, I have noticed that whilst I can get the heater to spin up on manual, as soon as I switch it back onto automatic it just shuts off. Could this be something to do with the control resistor? Peace

Re: DS4 heater blower
Don't forget that with Automatic Climate Control the fans don't necessarily speed up on maximum straight away - it is usually a staggered approach, reaching the desired temperature settings gradually as the system is able to comply using engine temperature and air heating resistors to achieve this (in the case of warmth) as nothing is served by putting everything on full blast.
So on AUTO mode, you can try setting the temperature controls to a setting one above the lowest or one setting under the highest (because setting the temperature dial to HI or LO maximums disengages climate control) and then see if after a while the fan speeds start to increase over 5 minutes or so. Of course this will all depend on the outside ambient temperature and the perceived cabin temperature as to how long it will take (as it is not physically measured). But you should be able to hear the gradual increase in fan speed as the system compensated and adjusts within 5 minutes or less.

Kind regards jevan

Re: DS4 heater blower
Hello, I have an issue with the blowers not operating correctly into the cabin.
I can feel a tiny bit of air coming through when it's set to maximum and that's about it.
The dials on the panel all seem to be working. When I try to adjust the fan speed I can hear a slight electrical sound (removed the trim already).
Should I change the Blower control module first?
Where is this located on a 2013 DS4 1.6 Diesel?
Thanks

Re: DS4 heater blower
Hi, and to the Forum. Before changing any parts you might (if you have not already done so) check the status of the pollen filter. I have heard of them getting so clogged that even a tornado would struggle to blow through it.

Re: DS4 heater blower
No it's not. The actual Blower Motor itself is completely separate. This is about the Heater Blower Control Module which is what it is officially called. This is the electronic module that contains resistors that spin up the motor.
As condensation / moisture gets into the actual blower motor, it can cause the bearings to become seized. Because the Blower Control Modules are designed to spin up from zero slowly, they can struggle when the former condition is true, so they often don't have enough initial power to get going. Of course the blower control modules can fail too.
But as per my diagram in Post 14, item (3) is the Blower Motor Control Module location.
A word of caution - if replacing the module, don't be tempted to get a cheap unbranded Chinese one or one from ECP. Get a decent branded Behr, Valeo or OEM one if you can.

Re: DS4 heater blower
Hi folks,
Was directed to this thread from my own here: viewtopic.php?t=71201
Is there a parts number for this item so i can get start the process of looking? Given the details in the thread i am to assume the module needs replacement and it is not a fuse?
Thanks in advance
