C5 X7 Chrome door "rubbing strip" removal

Post by Argos69 »

Hi all,

I've just swapped my old C5 X7 VTR+ for a newer Exclusive, which seems in overall good condition except it's had a scrape on the driver's side rear door Rubbing Strip (if that's the correct name for it!). It's chromed plastic I think. I've been quoted around £90-£100 for a replacement, so thought I might give some mirror car wrap film a go first. Question.....

Is it clipped or stuck on and what's the recommended technique for removal without any collateral damage?

Does anyone know the part number for the strip and any clips involved.

Thanks in advance for any help - Keep safe and well.

Great, thanks for that.
X7 Door Trim.PNG
Have a look at the diagram above.

I think item (10) is what you are after, but correct me if I'm wrong. Chromium Grey is the colour for your car and this is reflected in the part numbers below:

The rear left side door protector part number is: 8546W5
The rear right side door protector part number is: 8546W7

Both are £100.15 each inc. VAT from Citroen as of today.

As for fitting:

Unclip the clips (at "t") using trim removal tools.
Remove: The protector (45).

The clips item (20), are part number: 856564 and cost £2.95 each and need to be replaced if they break on removal of course .
