LMH leak
I have really annoying leak coming from the right front corner of my mk1 Xantia, where there are no hydraulic lines ?? It dosnt leak while the motor is running, only when the motor is turned off and the suspension sinks. There is a lot of oil on the tray / shelf below the washer fluid reservoir, I cleaned that area, ran the motor and turned it off and within a few minutes observed oil flowing down that tray towards the front of the car. I thought it might be the high pressure line for the strut, its dry where it enters the strut but appears

Re: LMH leak
Where exactly is the wet patch ?. A photo would help but one possibility is the rubber leak off pipe at hydraulic strut. If it's not on right it causes a small leak.

Re: LMH leak
One more vote for that. The strut leak-back/return rubber pipe is the usual suspect.

Re: LMH leak
The wet patch is under the bumper on the right hand side, it's running down that tray / shelf in the pic. Is that return line under much pressure?

Re: LMH leak
The pics are not the right way in my thread but my leak was below the clamp line.

If it's the leak back pipes from the strut, then no pressure.kiwifrog wrote: 10 Aug 2020, 19:54 The wet patch is under the bumper on the right hand side, it's running down that tray / shelf in the pic. Is that return line under much pressure?

Re: LMH leak
Would the oil be forced out of the return line as the suspension sank, if the line wasn't fitted securely?GiveMeABreak wrote: 10 Aug 2020, 22:17If it's the leak back pipes from the strut, then no pressure.kiwifrog wrote: 10 Aug 2020, 19:54 The wet patch is under the bumper on the right hand side, it's running down that tray / shelf in the pic. Re: LMH leak
Found it, damaged high pressure line to the strut, right behind the 90 degree clip that secures the line to the inner wing, I can see this is going to be a mission to fix.....

Re: LMH leak
Your pictures are not visble, I think that the site that is hosting them needs a login. Perhaps you can upload the files to this server?
I assume that this is a non-hydractive car. I have seen a split pipe successfully repaired by cutting it at the point of the leak, then cutting a repair section from a steel pipe with an id that would just slide over the damaged pipe. The overlapping joint was then braised. As far as I know the repair has not failed yet.

Re: LMH leak
Yes non hydractive mk1 Xantia, the line is in a very tight spot and disappears into the firewall, sorry about the pics, all I know how to do is copy and paste...

The picture is not visible to me. If (below the text entry box) you click on "Full Editor & Preview" you will then be presented with extra options, including the option to upload attachments.

Re: LMH leak
That's right:
Hit Full Editor & Preview
then Add File
Choose your file (photo), which will then appear in a list.
Position the cursor in your post where you want the phototo appear, and hit Place in Line.
Hit Preview to see what the post then looks like, and if ok, finally hit Submit.
The List allows several photos to be added to a post, and the empty box allows a caption for each, if desired.

If I right-click on the word "Image" it opens the picture in a Google Photo's page.
