DPF health check

Post by osx »

Where can I check the DPF condition in Diagbox? After 160k miles it must be getting clogged.

In the engine ECU.

It should provide you with current soot loading, estimated amount of additive (in weight) dumped into the filter and estimated quantity of additive remaining.

Soot loading is only relative until the next regeneration when it gets burnt off. Additive remaining is also estimated - not measured.

As for the filter itself, the official life expectancy is 120k miles. Obviously life can increase depending on individual driving conditions.

I had a scary moment when the engine cut-off suddenly while i was cruising - Depollution message came on, the engine oil pressure and i think one more. Pulled over and restarted the engine - no messages or warning lights. Second time it has happened in one year. On both occasions I was driving, low speed and revs.

Did you get any stored fault codes after the engine cut out?

Managed to find the DPF data (41% full?). The faults are at the last attachment.

You can realistically ignore the P1351 error - just about every HDI has this. It's just the common glow plug fault.

The DPF data 41% PEFload is just telling you the current status of the soot loading. That will increase upwards until it's time to regenerate and will drop back off again.

As for P0215:
Fault Code: P0215 - Supply relay control - short circuit to earth or short circuit to positive or open circuit

Description Main Relay Stuck

Conditions for Fault to clear: The following conditions have to be met:
- Engine idling (For several seconds)
- Engine cut following a phase in which the engine management ECU becomes dormant

Downgrade Modes whilst Fault is active: None

Symptoms: Starting Problem

Suspect Areas:Engine fuse box, Electrical harness, Connector
So this is likely to point to the fuel supply relay - which is contained in the engine fuse box. The relays are not really user serviceable, so the whole fusebox is generally replaced. You might find that it behaves for a while, but may start getting progressively worse - other symptoms can include cutting out / hesitation whilst driving.

Is the fusebox easy to replace? What part number do I need to look for? VF7**************[VIN obfuscated, can be read by forum staff]

Try a BSI Reset first (BSI Reset / Battery Disconnect / Reconnect Procedure) , as this will remove all power and might sort the relay - if not and you need up to date parts data, you'll probably be aware that we are now charged by PSA for this, so ask for a small contribution (£10 min) that will cover you up to 2 years for future parts and parts diagrams - details below:

Engine Fuse box specifically for your X7 is Part number: 9807028580. Current Citroen price is £131.69 inc. VAT. Eurocarecare (not to be confused with Euro Car Parts) are a decent supplier and have a new fusebox for £100.80 inc. VAT. Beware some ebay sellers are charging more than Citroen!

Just had a look and it's BSM-9664705980 (R02). Guess they are interchangeable?
