Post your VIN up and I can check (it will be automatically masked from public view). RD4s do not have native bluetooth nor streaming. You may have had the hands free Nomad unit fitted though for bluetooth phone calls. Anyway I'll know once I check.

Vin: VF7**************[VIN obfuscated, can be read by forum staff]

it's strange the pins you sent me on the RNEG for AUX are 4, 10 and 11 and that's what the priginal radio has..

No wires on 3 and 9 for the microphone.
Where are the microphone cables?

Right, that clarifies things...

You had a factory fitted RD4, not RD45.

In addition you have the independent telematic unit fitted that provides geolocation services in the event the airbags are triggered. It also provides the functionality for the Assistance and Emergency call buttons.

Because of this, your microphone will be wired into this telematic unit and not into the quadlock for obvious reasons so the emergency services / assistance can communicate with you. I would leave this alone as you don't want to cripple the system.

I think it's better you try and fit a separate microphone and wire that into the back of the quadlock directly. I would expect that the outputs for the Mic would end up going to the head unit - but I can't say for sure.

This is what the telemaic unit looks like.

Ok. Is this unit the orange display?

Or is it a separate unit?
Where can I find this unit?

Also. What about the AUX pins?

Shouldn't it work without modifications?

Ok, we need to do a rewind.... this is why we usually ask for the VIN upfront - so it avoids all the confusion.

You had the RD4 basic Head unit, plus

You have the Telephone interface kit fitted
This is where the USB port is connected to and allows depending on level of the unit, streaming of bluetooth files and bluetooth telephone function. This is also where the AUX connections will go

'a' is where the USB port connects to.

The Hands Free / USB Box is located here:

Plus

You have the Independent Telematics unit fitted
This is as I described previously regarding emergency assistance and geolocation.

No. the orange display is the Multifunction screen

The independent telematics unit is hidden and is separate. It is located inside the dash above the passenger (right) side on a left hand drive DS3. It's above the glovebox, and access needs the glovebox lod and air vent removing:

Ahhh man! Now i got it!

So now:

You say we should not mess with the original microphone because its connected to the telematics right?
My idea was to remove it from the telematics, and connect to the quadlock (Part B- Pin -3 and +9)
Which pins could i remove from telematics and connect to the quadlock? PIN 1 and PIN 10?

OK now even if i run an external microphone, which i did already! I plugged it on the same pins (3 and 9) and still cannot be heard.
Shouldnt it work? I mean connecting the external microphone directly to the quadlock!

About the AUX:
What's necessary now in order to make the cables work on the RNEG unit?
Remove them from the Telephone interface kit and plug them directly on the quadlock too? With the same pins? 4, 10 and 11?

Sorry for all the mess and questions, like i said i have this car for a short time and still getting used to this.
I'm more used to audi systems..

Thanks for all the help so far, you've been a life saver

EDIT: AUX Solved! I cut the 3 wires that plugged on the interface kit that come from the socket, and plugged them on the other 3 wires that go to the quadlock, avoiding like this the interface module, and plugging directly from socket --> quadlock

Now i need only to solve the microphone issue.

And probably one cable on PIN 5 to control screen brightness

There are 3 systems in play here and they are all interconnected. Obviously I can't advise any bypass of the independent telematic unit as it's a safety device and could save lives in an accident.

What I can tell you is that on the DS3 with an RNEG (MyWay) fitted as standard and with the Independent Telematic unit (ITU) also fitted:

1) The Microphone wires from the Mic go to Pin 1 (+) and Pin 10 (-) on the ITU.
2) From there they exit the ITU on pin 2 (+) and pin 11 (-)
3) They enter the MyWay unit on pin 9 (+) and pin 3 (-) (see relevant diagram on previous post for clock)

This ensures that the emergency call system is kept working.

OK. So:

1st - Any idea why an aftermarket microphone volume is too low? How can i increase it?

2nd - If i wanna use then the original microphone (assuming the volume will be OK), I assume that there are no cables exiting ITU on PIN 2/11 since they would connect on Myway on PIN 9/3, and i did not have those cables connected there? I had to plug external wires on those pins..

So i guess that on my car they did only connect on ITU on PIN 1 / 10 and they did not "leave" the unit, right?

1) Quality
2) No, because you are forgetting the 3rd piece of kit - the USB connecting Box. On the original setup of your vehicle:

They exit the ITU on pin 2 (+) and pin 11 (-)
They enter the USB Connecting Box on Pin 8 (-) and pin 9 (+) (on the 18 Pin white connector).

I tried plugging the external microphone on those pins 8/9.. (microphone level 2)
No sound at all.

So basically I should make an extension of PIN 8 and 9 to the 3 and 9 on the quadlock?

Another issue...
Screen rotates 180 degrees..

I saw something that we needed to unplug the PIN 15 from the Part A of the quadlock. Is this the solution?

That's what the wiring diagram shows for MyWay and ITU fitted.

Yep, removing one of the grounding cables from connector will sort the image rotation.

Ok so last question xD

When you say removing one of the grounding cables you mean this procedure? Or removing the PIN 15 from quadlock?

" Pin 1 & 3 of screen brown connector must be connected to pins 9 & 15 of Fackra part A. ----> This i dont know if needed (however theres a PIN15 cable connected on my quadlock)
Pin 2 of of screen brown connector must be connected to pin 5 of Fackra part B. " ---> Maybe i need this one because i cant control screen brightness

The brown connector has 2 pins for ground. (PIN 3 and 6) which one should i cut out?

Ok so microphone solved.
It's working now

Only issue now is the screen rotation..
I cut the PIN 15 from the Part A on the quadlock, still rotated after a few starts.

So I went on the brown connector and cut the PIN 3 cable. Still rotates sometimes l.

Remember I had the older brown connector from the RD4 display
My RNEG display did not bring a connector and I have found one on my electrician but it's missing PIN 2 and PIN 5

Anyway. I don't know what other ground I should cut away...
Maybe PIN 6?

------------------------

I think ive managed to make it work (Dont know for sure)

However i plugged PIN 3 to PIN 16
And PIN 1 is connected on the older connector from the RD4 (12v) i guess.

Since i dont have a diagram of the RT4 brown connector display i cant do much

Do you have one? I can´t find it
