Re: Xantia Airbag Removal
No, I don't think you should split it in the middle. If it's the same as on my 1995 1.9TD, then I think (memory's going nowadays
) that you slide a thinnish screwdriver or similar under the connector and gently lever it off. Suggest you do this gingerly in case I'm wrong.

Re: Xantia Airbag Removal
Nope. that's the right method... The airbag has a small socket on it's back face in the shape of a 'D' with two pins. The side face of the orange bit in the picture has the reverse. It'll clip out quite easily with the use of a small screwdriver as a lever.
Disconnect the battery and leave disconnected for at least 10 minutes before doing it though...

Re: Xantia Airbag Removal
All these blasted clever connectors with each their own method of dismantling is nothing but a nightmare. So easy to break them if you don't know the trick of releasing the catch and it is always the most crucial ones that disintegrate when the incorrect technique is applied.

Re: Xantia Airbag Removal
Cheers guys, I succeeded in removing the bugger, it was plugged into two pins on the back of the airbag plate. Next job is trying to source a replacement part, found an exact match here http://bartebben.com/parts/citroen/xant ... 30480.html weirdly couldn't find it on valeo's website.
None on ebay, so time to start calling round breakers, I hope a new one fixes my airbag light otherwise I think I'll be send my xantia to the scrap yard!

Check with citroenxm, as he is likely to have one. He also charges realistic prices.

Or you could put in a resistor until you find the correct part....it would save scrapping it. http://www.ebay.co.uk/bhp/airbag-resistordanny13 wrote: None on ebay, so time to start calling round breakers, I hope a new one fixes my airbag light otherwise I think I'll be send my xantia to the scrap yard!

Re: Xantia Airbag Removal
Some great advice, thanks gents. Fitted the new switch, but in the process bust one of the damn plugs that connects to the rear of the airbag, The plug was connected onto the pins shown in the arrow:

This is how it was before, assume these are required to have a working airbag circuit?
