Given the number of 'After-sales campaign' notices concerning Takarta Airbags I have been made aware of when looking up parts from PSA for members, I thought I would post a link to the following documentary that may be informative concerning the issue with these igniters.

According to Takata, the chemicals in the airbags’ explosive charge can...

Disruption to Parts Service

As you may be aware, the consolidation of the old PSA to the Stellantis Group systems has resulted in both a merge of data tools and a requirement to migrate PSA accounts to Stellantis Systems.

This has caused some problems for organisations like ours and the Team are currently looking at the best way forward. This...

Renault 19 leaded or unleaded fuel?

by alanmcc64 » 18 May 2004, 03:48

I used to have a 1989 1.4. As far as I am aware, all of the range from this date onwards run on unleaded. Mine certainly did and it was an older model than yours

Last post

I've bought a Renault 19, 1.4 litres. The car was manufactured 1990.
They guy I bought it from told me to pour leaded fuel in it. However,
the leaded fuel is almost gone on all the gas stations... Someone told
me that it's perfectly fine to pour unleaded fuel, and that it will
work just fine. Unfortunately, I don't have the car's manual, so I...

I've seen this question elsewhere here. Apparently the gauges are unlikely to be used in a garage anyway and you just need to be able to twist the belt 90 degrees in the middle of its longest run.
Haynes are being cautious to avoid compensation claims.

Car: Megane 1.6 8v 1998,S-reg
Just found my front n/s caliper has seized up, not sure why its done this but its worn the pads out, and will probably need replacing. Is the caliper the same as a 205 GTi 1.9's? I ask because I also have one, so could swap it over if I'm desperate (the 205 is off the road at the mo). Trouble is the 205 is at home,...

Clio 91

Once you've broken down are the plugs sparking when you turn it over trying to start it? If they are it's probably fuel related.
If not, it's likely to be an electrical problem. My money is on either an igntiion compoment failing as it gets warm, or the fuel pump relay not working properly.
Post back with your findings.

I have a 1.2 Clio 91 that has an an intermitant rev problem. Whilst driving along with foot to floor revs will suddenly die. Repeated pressing of the pedal has no effect on it. If I drop it down a gear making it rev higher then accelerate sometimes its fine again others I have to stop. Even if you change down the gears you have no revs in any of...

Probably not, in my experience leaky racks don't stay fixed for long- if you can stop the leak at all.
I'd say a replacement rack is what you are after.

Last post

Is it worthwhile fitting a repair kit (if i can getit)to my 19's steering rack (power steering)? MOT fail because of a leak at nearside of rack.

Renault 19 Petrol guage not working

by philhoward » 10 Feb 2004, 22:10

First post

If the temperature gauge (has it got one?) still works, then the clever money is on the sender unit in the petrol tank.

Last post

My petrol guage just suddenly stopped reading, so petrol levels have become pure guess work!
Any advice at all?
Many thanks in advance

Hi
The tailgate on my 1998 Espace opened this morning to allow the dogs IN ... but now I can't open it again.
I've looked on the inside of the door to see if there is an obvious way to remove the interior cladding with the door shut - but nothing seems obvious to me!
I'm not SURE if the door lock is jammed, or if there is a linkage problem.
Any...

if you have a 12v supply at the bulbs, and the bulbs are known to work, then you have a faulty earth or the bulb holder is corroded, check the bulb holders first, then supply a temp 12v supply (connect a piece of wire from the battery and connect it to the positive side of the bulb)and see if this works the bulbs, if not, it sounds like a bad...

airbag warning light

by David Goddard » 06 Feb 2004, 02:23

First post

I would be surprised if removing a fuse would kill the warning light. Maybe just as quick to fix the fault. Presumably your car has front seat belt pre-tensioners. If so, the most likely fault would be the connectors usually found under the front seats. (Orange on Citroens) The explosive gadgets are all part of the air bag self check system....

Cam belt tension

by arry_b » 03 Feb 2004, 03:07

First post

Ask your nearest Ren dealer if they ever use one! Due to the pressure to finish jobs quickly that most dealer based mechanics are under, I suspect the real tool gets used less often than it should - if ever.
The belt should twist 90 degrees under firm finger pressure on the longest run. If it whooshes it's too tight.
Good luck in finding one...

I am about to change the cam belt on a 1.6e megane (K7M engine)
Has anyone found a tension gauge which can be used on this engine?
Is the genuine renault one available for hire anywhere?
Thanks in advance.

I don't mean to teach you to suck eggs but you have checked the clutch cable for being stiff. If it is then you will have to take it out of the car and hang it up to oil it.

Last post

I have a R19 gts 1.4 rhd.
The clutch is heavy & stiff. Changed the pressure plate & clutch disk without any change.
Please could you give me a solution.
I am having cramps with this clutch.
Thanks for a prompt reply

Laguna won't start

by bigdaddy » 09 Feb 2004, 15:45

Hi, dont know much about laguna's, but if you have fuel and a spark, then i would check the timing, the belt may have jumped a few teeth the last time you drove the car

Last post

Got a problem with my '94 Laguna 1.8 RT.
The starter motor went an has been replaced about a week ago. A few days later the car cut out whilst driving and now will not start.
The immobiliser seems fine, there is a spark in the plugs and fuel being fed.
When the engine turns over it tends to back-fire into the carb. My mechanic is baffled.
Help...
