hi,
thats the method Ive used with many a vehicle - these included - unless of course yours has the auto / spring tenioner , then you dont have to worry about it. Go for it!

Hi Wayne - As long as the HD battery will fit the battery shelf and clip in securely it will be OK.

You don't say what age the car is. You could even put a picture of the coil on a website and post the link here.
Sorry not to be any help.
Ben

i think they just ripped you off because all they had to do to the pipe that went to the cat was to make the tip bigger, or put a bigger pipe. then weld it together. i think they just wanted money from you.

Hello everyone..... just a thought while Im here....has anyone come across this problem on the 405 or simalar? The gear lever has been stiff on changing since Ive had the car but tonight after a 10 mile or so run it went mega stiff - and then back to ordinary stiff again!! Im assuming its a lack of lube problem in the linkages somewhere but just...

Hi,
Due to impending sale of my 306XRdT, I no longer have a need for the set of REAR SUBFRAME FRONT MOUNTS BOTH SIDES(Andyspares p/n T42352 £19.50 + VAT each new) which I bought last year but never fitted. I will let them go for just £15 the pair (I will pay the postage).

After removing the o/s wheel and plastic panel, tackle the pulley bolt first. You'll need a socket with extension bar and some means of holding the flywheel ring. Take the weight of the engine on a trolley jack with a length of wood between sump and jack, before removing the top engine mount. Some of the work is easiest reached with the engine...

Hi,
The water temp thermistor is screwed into the thermostat housing which is, from the front bumper, on the right. It has a green connector.
Cheers,

Hiya... As I understand things , the light is indicating a fault in the circuit. I would say the first thing to do is do a fault code check and that ought to point you in the right direction...even if it is just down to the connectors. As you mentioned though, pay close attention to the safety procedures even BEFORE you start playing with those...

Hi CJB - You do indeed have to undo something to drain off any water in the fuel filter. The drain screw which needs to be opened is right at the bottom of the filter housing. It's in such a position that it's difficult to get to, and I usually remove the entire filter housing, clean it out and replace the filter. To remove the housing, you need...

i had a ford that did that take out the air filter and try it

I've just bought a beautiful cond. M/95, 120k on the clock, Full peugeout service history, but it's cold!! The heater doesn't work, but did a couple of days ago. The fans work fine. The A/C button's been stuck in and off since I got it,
N E one wanna help me de-mist my windows without a rag???!!

...too stupid or not ? Now then.. Is this ME Im referring too? or the job? Actually, Im thinking that 16 people have read the speedo cable post and O answers..So, Is it that people are thinking - This is too stupid to answer ? OR, is it that nobody knows ?????
Please let me know either way? Cos it could, after all, just be ME !!!!! :-/

Hope they didn't damage the pipework when they did this, get one stuck in, work at it methodicaly and make notes if necessary, wont be much fun without the ability to demist or even keep frost off the screen, not to mention keeping your toes warm

is anyone tried running their cars on vegetable oil?
I have a 1989 205 GRD and thought about giving it a go.
It is a Lucaspump.
Any successes or failures?

the down side to this is you are breaking the law and it was designed to fry not dri-ve so i would think it will damage you car and wont be cheaper in the long run, then...

I'd say you are looking at valve trouble there, either not having the correct clearance, a poor match with the seat or just plain burnt, sounds like to much pressure going west to be a head gasket, and if it were you should know about it with that much pressure loss me thinks.

Hehehe just correcting a bit of gobbledygook

The seals wear out in the pump and allow water to get into the motor, as a result it rusts up solid, it also leaks water out and sends the boot floor rusty, it did on my 205 so I blocked the hole where the pump fits and fitted a different type of pump higher up.
The wiper could have a broken wire where it bends as the tailgate opens, check the...

I'm looking for a reseal kit for my 405, I've just purchased it and the rear brakes are sticking on. After taking a look at them it seems that a previous owner had decided that there is no need for the rubber that protects the piston. The piston looks OK but I need new rubbers for them.
So the question is, where do I get these reseal kits from?...

Diesels do tend to be clattery on start up but if yours is noisier than it should be, it's probably due to the lack of oil in the tappets. For a start, make sure you have a good quality oil filter fitted. Some of them don't have a non=return valve in them. Most fuel gauges are not very accurate. From a brim full tank I generally cover 100 miles or...

Did you??
Its Ok I removed the spare one !!!

blown head gasket not a big job (if you do it your self get the cylinder head skimmed dont cut corners

Where live you Ray?

In addition to replacing the glow plugs, have you tested/replaced the glow plug relay? This may not be heating the plugs for long enough. This can be tested by warming the plugs 2 or 3 times before cranking the engine. If it starts better by doing that, then the problem definitely lies in the glow plug system.

Hope you have taken a picture of the pot hole and are going to claim for the repairs from the local authority.
Not wise to drive it any further until the damage has been put right, not familiar with the model so can't offer any other advice.
Good luck

The most trouble people seem to have doing this is getting the hub nut off, its a big bugger and it will be very tight.
If its a staked on nut you need a new one to go back on, if its got a pin through it, it goes back on, you need a torque wrench with a suitable (high) capacity.
The gearbox oil needs draining, so fresh oil required there, check...

HI folks....SO, this is as per title - Pug 405 - Speedo Cable Access --??? - Has anyone changed one? Do you know how to get at the clock end of the cable / to disconnect it fromthe clock??? I can see the 'screen' end of the dash housing appears to lift and unclip - but what about therest of it??????? appreciate it - Thank you - Mike

My old 205 had the lucas filter fitted, I don't remember any fuel escaping at the priming plunger shaft so I wouldn't think it was normal on yours, but probably of little consequence since after bleeding the plunger is screwed down, this is to ensure the pump cylinder is completely sealed.

I do know that if you are too vigourous in lifting it...

Hi Stuart - Until recently, I had two 205D's to look after. They both had different fuel systems, but on each one, I found it better first to remove the two supply pipes, then unbolt the body of the filter housing from the vehicle. With it laying on some clean newspaper on the bench, it's easy to clean inside and fit the new filter. Be careful not...

Hi Stuart - If you change the oil and filter of your engine every 6000 miles, it shouldn't be necessary to use a flushing oil. Probably the tinkling noise was caused because flushing oils are very thin. Likewise, if the coolant is changed every two years, that also shouldn't need chemical treatments. However, if your coolant is looking muddy,...

i am new to this site
i have owned my 97 xsi for nearly 6 years and am experiencing stalling problems when car is unused for sometime/ days...
current problem is that when the car isn't driven regularly, the
engine will not idle when cold and has to be revved whilst moving.
after 3 mins on the move constantly, the engine warms up engough to allow...

Hi,
I am not sure of the lay out in your car but I have had problems with my bx and zx roof. The cables rusted in the bx and so I replaced them. Head cloth out etc, a few hours. The zx jammed recenlty. I took off the centre consol where the motor is housed, removed the glass and tried operating the motor. Still no movement. I removed the motor...

Hi Mike,
Well I havn't changed a head gasket on a 605, but I have on an XM TD12 (same engine). So the truths that apply to the XM might not apply to you. First, according to Citroën, you have to take the engine out to change the head gasket (Haynes says so too), not true! Although it's a tremendous squeeze getting the head off the block (it's...

hi ,
The noise you refer to is to close and open the
(outside air via the micro filter) ventilation duct.
Actually the motor is okay only the plastic gear that
broken. Trust me in order to charge that part; you
need extra effort to dismantle lots of other parts to
gain access to this motor. Another way is make sure
the ventilation is close...

Hallo Pugster,
i'm Azizi from Kuala Lumpur Malaysia. i owned 306ST 1.8L 8v 1996 petrol model for about 5 months. i really interested to upgrade my engine to GTI6 or S16 (2.0L 16v) . but here, it was to hard to get that engine. can i get some info about the place and the price over there.
for that info, thanks in advance.
maroon306

Welcome to the fold!
1.Your engine should run at 93C. Thermostat starts to open at 82C
2.What ever the book says, don't let it go more than 6000. My daughter's new HDI states 12500 miles - needless to say, it'll get a change at 6K.
3.There has certainly been plenty of failures reported in the R and S years. I haven't seen any real evidence of the...

If its anything like a Xantia there will be a control box behind the trim on the drivers door, get off to a breakers yard and snare a replacement or two for next to nothing.
Dave

HI
Your problem is a known problem with these boxes..well, put it this way... I spose not everyone knows but Ive come accross it afore.
Im afraid your right - it is likely that its a big fix as you put it. Depends really on how long its been driven like that and therefore what damage has been done. Its likely the clutch bands are gone but they do...

Do you mean the fan switch in the radiator? If so, they are listed in the catalogue at £8 to £9.

TD Engine wanted to suit ZX
Would this be a good place to ask?? in that Im told Pug 306 and others will do the job.
Please mail me if you know of anything.....
ps, It has to be good .... hate doing jobs twice !!
Its for a Cit ZX 1996'7 (P) immob pad version pump
thanks for lookin' !

if you go to the haynes site all the info is there, but you will have to buy two manuals, one for covering the diesel engine.
www.haynes.co.uk

your better off buying the proper tool for this job only a couple of quid the multy one is cast and has a tendancy to break easy i think the size is slightly bigger than a quater drive extention you could undo it by putting thi in + a screwdriver to make it fit , but i would go for the tool
DAVE

check your engine mountings this sounds mor like the problem hope this helps
DAVE

Hi Max - You could have been told correctly about the soft engine mounts. Look particularly at the bottom one. A worn CV joint would knock on full lock. They don't usually give a vibration, unless very worn.

My 306 GTI-6 has started overheating in traffic jams. Previously, with the air-con on it never got above around 80 degrees, and with it off, would hit about 90 before the cooling group switched on.
Now, I notice that the temperature almost hits the red. When this happend, there appears to be little heat available through the heater matrix (so I...

HIya,.. its not the Normal HM grease mate- get your self some proper CV grease - its a yukky grey stuff....you can buy it in silver packs...sized for one boot full .

is cooling fan working on both speeds and check for any cold spots in radiator. it sounds like clutch adjustment if it happens in reverse/first.

I am in India and I have a 309 GLD with the XUD9 engine which has run (according to the odometer) 158,000 kms. The engine pulls very well (I have beaten Ford Escort diesels etc. with it) and there seems to be not much of sluggishness. Can anyone help me by giving me information as to how many miles/kilometers does the XUD9 go on for before a major...
