I doubt the piece of plastic holding the cable to the floor will cause an issue with the air bag light, but an intermittent loose connection in the plug and socket almost certainly will. Check for a good electrical connection within. Look...

Alarm Update

I have finally found the fault on the alarm. I mentioned a bit about it on my previous post about locating the ecu (at the time I couldn't locate the fault so I wanted to disconnect the alarm). Anyway I have traced it to the boot lock so I took of the boot card and closed the boot and set the alarm. Now all is o.k until you push against the boot...

Just to add to this I have spoken to a couple of dealers who both couldn't pin point the ecu but one said it looked like it was under the bonnet (following pictures on his computer). Also they mention a key switch under the bonnet to disable the alarm/siren. But again knew nothing about it.

Sounds like bearings - never done it myself but a search on here will reveal all. Its much the same as a BX so those postings will be valid as well.
Sounds nice to do both but near side do seem to fail first so its up to you. As they are separate you will be doing them one at a time anyway.
I think you will need a new plastic tube which comes in...

Well you could eliminate the volumetric ultrasonics by using the disable button when you lock it. If the alarm still goes off for no reason then at least you will know that it's probably not a duff transducer. Might be worth checking the state of the battery also, and the terminals which are less than reliable.

Fixed the problem. Johnny was spot on, a wire in the flexible rubber between the B pillar and the rear door had snapped. Bit of a sod to get at but managed to solder it back together. Thank's Johnny

LHM Filter's

You dont change these filters.
As they are made of a nylon mesh - they are unclipped and cleaned in any detergent (even petrol).
Of course if they are damaged i.e. ripped in the mesh you change them - but they wont be unless last cleaning proces was done very careless.

I went to my local Citroen dealer today and the only 2 that we could find on the computer cost about £22 together. Every interior light I've seen is simply operated by a push switch in the door hinge face. Citroen ones are black plastic and are fixed with a single screw and sometimes have a rubber gasket and cost about £1.50 from GSF.

As far as i know they are 2.0ltr.90/110 in the Xantia.
In other PSA cars,theres also 1.4 HDI,70/90bhp.2.2 136 bhp,the new 16V 2.0 136bhp.2.8 128 bhp in vans.
1.9 must just be a misprint.

Well the usual reason for using Hydraflsuh is because the system is full of crap.
The LHM tank has a white plastic disc in the bottom and the crap accumulates under that so if you just syphon it out, you get rid of the old LHM but then leave all the garbage in there which will be stirred up as soon as you fill with the flusher and can possibly...

Blimy the more I think about the car the more problems I remember. My next is the fuel pump in the Fuel tank. Do they hum quite loudly from time to time and is it anything to worry about or should I just put up with it? I am assuming it's the pump as it's from under the o/s rear footwell and doesn't change with engine speed.

Basically it doesn't always lock. When I press the remote it makes a faint noise then anything from 1 to 5 unlock - locks it makes a clunk sound on the unlock then locks o.k with another clunk. It always unlocks o.k. Any ideas guys?

Is it me! My rear suspension can sound boomy on some types of bumps or road surfaces. I have changed all the spheres and was wondering if it might be either the LHM needs changing or that the rear bushes have gone. Any ideas ? It does seem worse on the passenger side. Hi, the door switch is integrated into the lock itself. Personally If you dont need the light going on with that door, I wouldnt risk fiddling with the lock.

dont bother trying to unscrew nuts cut them off as you get new ones with the links and make sure you get the right ones as i think theres 3 types just have a good look at yours ie which way the nuts are

Whether to use or not to use! Depends on how the system has been treated in its past life. If changes have been neglected, giving it a flush would help. What does the old LHM look like? If it's a bright green, don't bother. If it's muddy brown, then use it.

You may or may not find the discs almost impossible to remove. When I did mine, the o/s fell off after removing the screws, but the n/s needed persuading with a lump hammer. Before mounting the new disc, clean off any rust, otherwise they might not run true. When bleeding the brakes, go gently with a RING spanner on the bleed nipples. I find they...

Yup, three. One on each suspension arm and one in the middle. However the one in the middle has a small pipe connected to it. The hint is to hold the pipe nut and turn the sphere off it. Not the other way round because it is likely to be siezed on the pipe and turning the nut would shear the pipe off.
While you are there check the height control...

Hi Guy's, As some of you know I have done my front sphere's including the accumulator. I would like to do the rear's now. How many are there on a Xantia estate. Is there 3 like the front or more I'm slightly confused after doing a search.

Autoleads adapter

Hi everyone, I have finally fitted my Sony headunit with the correct lead for the later Xantia's steering control's. The lead is a PC9 - 125 to fit the Mini ISO lead that the later Xantia had. Now just got to sort out the speakers.

News to me.Why would they?They have the C5.Think of all the trouble they would have getting it to todays safety standards,aig bags,body strength etc...
Unless any one knows different,seems a highly unlikely.

When speaking to Autoleads technical support today (see thread) I was told that Citroen are going to start making Xantia's again but only about 2000 a year. Has anyone else heard any muttering's and will the U.K get any I wonder. Maybe it will be the 2cv's turn next.

If it's the sane as mine, there's a link which is made on a Mk1, and not on a Mk2, unless yours is one of the few Mk2's that the autoleads adaptor doesn't work with (search for autoleads in this forum)

Hi everyone, have just fitted new cd player in my Mk2 Xantia but the steering control doesn't work with the PC9-109 lead. Should it just plug in and work or have I got to do anything else. Cheer's Alec.....

I think the easyest way is has it got a intercooler?90`s did`nt,110`s did.Usally next to,or in front of the rad.

How the heck do I know which engine i've got. The V5 doesn't say Citroen can't say searching there database other than it's a HDi diesel. It must have some easy visual clues. I'm starting to find out about Citroen ownership, but don't worry I owned a Fiat before so I'm well broken in HEHE. Oh yes it's a 2000 W estate.

looks like your front spheres have failed and need to be changed. You can do the job yourself - loads of advice on here - try a search.

can not help with shocks. breaks, when you say it shudders, do you mean it dose this through the steering wheel. if so then yes i would say that the discs are warped. you may be able to get them skimmed depending on how bad and how thin they are.

Hi everyone my 2.0hdi has a couple of problems as you can see from the title. Firstly the front end is soft as it should be but also it some times bottoms out as if like (on a normal car) it has no shock absorbers. Also under braking it can get into a serious brake shudder between about 60-40mph any suggestions. Is this just warped discs as its...

I've got a Sony CDX-MP40, and it works with the autoleads adaptor fine; there is a link piece which gets left or joined, depending on whether or not its a pre- or post-facelift Xantia.
It could be that the dates mentioned are production dates; your Xantia could have been sitting around for a while!
AFAIK, any Sony unit with the Joystick socket...

I'm currently looking for a mp3 headunit on ebay but I'm unsure about what I can do to keep the steering wheel controls working. I've looked on various car audio sites and all the adapter's are for Xantia's up to either 1999 or Jan 2000. Mine is A May 2000 Xantia. Any help much appreciated.

If the 2000 model is the same as the 1998, it's a bit of a squeeze to get behind the headlamp. There's a cover to remove first. Press down the clip that holds it. Remove the wire connector from the rear of the bulb that's to be changed. Outside bulb is dipped, inner one is main beam. Undo the retaining clip and remove the bulb.

Go to a citroen dealer with all your documents, and there normally very good with codes etc, for a small fee of course
Car electrics aren't my speciality but check earths on the inner wing by the battery?

I have just bought a 2000 HDi estate and have just looked in the drivers book and read about the coded card should I chase this up or can I still get keys without it? The other problem is that the preheat,main airbag and seatbelt light's don't come on when I turn on the ignition. Any Idea's?
