I don't have knowledge of the Peugeot, but the issue of a loose connection is known with several makes of car.
I doubt the piece of plastic holding the cable to the floor will cause an issue with the air bag light, but an intermittent loose connection in the plug and socket almost certainly will. Check for a good electrical connection within. Look...

I had a 1992 XM for a couple of years, during which time I had to replace every rubber coolant hose at an average cost of £40 each. Jubilee clips extra.
Citroen seem to have had a problem producing durable rubber. I also had to replace the fuel hose, LHM return hoses, and the rubber engine mount blocks were from a bad batch of hard rubber...

I am sceptical, Jon. This could be a it of black propaganda, a misunderstanding in the translation or a dodgy garage where they didn't like Brits. I would like to see this confirmed if it can be, having a vested interest, so to speak. BTW tyres in France are not appreciably cheaper than in the UK it appears.

He was told that by law in France tyre makes must NOT be mixed on the same axle, in fact some places insist you have the same make on each corner. I'm sure someone with much more knowledge will give you a more setailed answer but i beleive it has to do with front/rear weight distribution. I believe the ideal is 50%/50% but this is not always the case. Perhaps the xantia and c5 have differing ratios.
Of course it is more complex than this. I suppose it is to do with the transfer of weight...

On a caravanning forum, www.michelin.co.uk/car came under discussion. The tyre selector pages give for the Xantia, 205/60x15 Energy tyres with pressures at 35/32 for standard use and 35/32 for fully loaded. For the C5 they also recommend 205/65x15 Energy tyres with a standard pressure at 34/30 but a loaded pressure of 34/36. Anybody know why there...

Doesn't matter which to you or I, but if you were assembleing these things you would be glad of the Torx headed bolt, it stays in position on the tool used to drive it, stick a bolt in a socket and turn the socket horizontal and you will get my drift, the bolt lobs over and wobbles about in the socket.

Chap I work with had a BX diesel. The wiring caught fire a month ago while parked on his drive (electrical short to the block) and wrote it off with:

The 306 TD does seem quite short geared compared to a Xantia, thus feeling faster. The 306 is also a very light car, compare a 406 TD to a 306 and the 406 feels very sedate in comparison. The BX is a bit lighter so the same engine will give you a bit more performance. The Xantia is a more modern car but a lot heavier.

The temperature at which the stat opens is fairly low and the radiator is amply able to withstand the thermal shock. As long as the driveshafts and wheel bearings are ok then why not? The 205 is a pleasant little car and if you can find a couple of decent doors then go for it. Best figures - normal driving, not being obviously economical.
1994 306 XTDT - 48mpg
1996 Rover 420Sdi - 54mpg
1998 Merc A170Cdi-68mpg on the north of Scotland Thurso - Ullapool.
1994 Xantia TD - 44mpg
Rover had the best 0-60 time.
Merc was better in gear - smooth and flexible.
306 was best around bends ( unless wet, when Merc was king )...
