French motoring history to be re-run

Post by alan s »

In 1953, a piece of History was created when a car almost unheard of in Australia won the Redex Round Australia Rally; that car was a Peugeot.
On July 18th, the tracks taken by those cars 50 years ago will be again driven over by a group of enthusiasts some driving restores versions of some of the original motoring reliability pioneers including several Peugeots 203s.
Here's a bit of a write up on what has happened & what is planned.
I'll update this info as it becomes available.

Another site has been added for more info that includes videos, old paper clippings & a rundown on some of the competitors & their backgrounds as wellas their cars.
There is some really entertaining stuff if you goto the top of teh page, look for Redex Trial & click on teh links.
Enjoy a bit of (not so) ancient history & a few good stories as well.
