Where should this plastic part be installed on the Citroen C5 II MK2?

Hello, I removed the door trim to repair the rear door handle. This piece was inside the door, and I don't know exactly where it came from. Where should this piece be installed? Can you show me a picture of where the piece belongs?

This is the exploded diagram showing your piece. It looks like it is a shield for the lock operating rod but that is only my interpretation. Hopefully you can figure it out from there:

I installed the part but I don't think it's a very useful or functional part.

From your initial perspective maybe not. If, however, it prevents things dislodging that rod (which may then stop the door opening from the outside, for example)...
