Reconditioned gearbox

Post by Webbgray2swindon »

We had a reconditioned gearbox second gear crunching sent back as 4th gear started crunching now all been done but have a small leak which when we took back to the garage they said water was getting into the gear box due to the gully on the windscreen was not diverting correctly so they replaced and put silicone etc to divert around the windscreen. We have had no rain and still a link which is definitely the transmission fluid leaking in the floor .
We are going to go back but this is where we have found the leak what is this part called 🤷‍♀️

Best to pop your VIN up as you haven't stated the model, year, engine or gearbox type, but initially, looks to be the gear selection control cable, but there should be 2 ends and I can only see the one in your pictures. Please post your VIN in full without spaces - it will be automatically masked from public view after submitting your post & will only be visible to staff.

Peugeot Boxer 270 TD SWB

After the reconditioned gear box was installed we ended up with a leak which we never had before and this is where it is coming from

That’s the speedometer drive output for the speedo cable.

Pretty sure that's the speedo drive - is it on the side of the diff above the RH drive shaft?

Yes, thanks chaps, so looks like the seal has gone. The official name for this is the 'Tachometer Control Seal' which is what you originally wanted, but if you find you need an official part number or part diagram please see below:
We can help if you need an original genuine part number, part diagram or factory build sheet and can't already find the info you need on the Forum. For this service, we do ask for a membership upgrade for official parts data as we are in turn charged for this. It will cover you for future part number requests for up to 2 years, so excellent value.
