Re: Interface firmware
That's not the interface, that is a firmware version.
Firmware is automatically updated when Diagbox is upgraded to a specific software version that requires the newer firmware.
For your X7, just update Diagbox to V7.58 and leave it there. It should be adequate for your needs, but I would not go past version 7.62.

Re: Interface firmware
Hint:
As correctly written, the firmware should not be touched because it is automatically changed with the corresponding software.
With the updates of version 7.57/7.62, the firmware was frozen by Scarymistake and Maitresox, because at that time it was wrongly feared that the VCI would no longer function properly with a higher firmware than 4.3.2/4.3.3.
Therefore, the firmware remained unchanged in the subsequent updates to V7 and V8 - which were activated with the patch for V7.
However, there were additional programmes with which the firmware could be changed or adapted to V8.xx.
As a rule, this did not achieve anything useful - except that the VCI could sometimes only be used for the software patched under the V7 - and no longer with the V9 software.
Only with the V09xx software activated by MrRorry and others is the firmware automatically updated again, provided the VCI has not been damaged by firmware add-ons.

Re: Interface firmware
Hi All, Thanks for all the advice, Some very interesting points. Overall the moral is update to 7.57 which I have done and then leave it alone
This is the chip set in my VCI

Re: Interface firmware
Not with Diagbox. It hates the thing
Only Lexia works with it. I've been meaning to buy a so-called full chip cable but have other priorities at the minute

Re: Interface firmware
I have updated to 7.57 and I am now waiting on a new usb cable and will try it then. Same as yourself other priorities take precedence over new unit

Re: Interface firmware
Guys, if you are missing the hardware like the optocouplers and the 10k resistor and other bits, it probably won't work on later vehicles regardless of cable you are using.

Re: Interface firmware
Hi Marc, Its worth a shot, if it doesn't work so be it. I'll have a spare if I have to buy a new VCI
.
I just found the last picture behind the BSI I was getting ready to change the Cabin Filter and copped them hanging down.
They are coming from the middle of the loom going to the rear of BSI. I tried googling the codes on the side of the wires I can see but I didnt get any hits. does anyone have any Idea what these are.
The code on the plain yellow wire is A26 3007 2878, the rest I cant get good enough of a picture to read

Re: Interface firmware
Ok thanks Ross I found a comment on it and translated it. Apparently the wired are a redundant set for something else. So panic over
