Looking for part numbers for springs for 407 coupe 2.7hdi - front and rear

Post by Jay-Bruce »

Hi as per title, looking for info on part numbers or equivalent for replacement springs for my 407 coupe, which is a 2006 with the 2.7v6 HDi engine. I don't have the vin number handy, but I'd hope this gives us enough to get the springs parts numbers? Thanks in advance :-)

No, I'll need the VIN for official parts as there are different types and markings Jay. VIN is on the outer lower left side windscreen or Log book. Once you have that, I'll move your specific request to the parts Thread and remove this topic.

One more thing, can you let me know if it's the same springs for the rear of other trim levels, say is it the same springs for the rear of a 2.0 / 2.2 / 2.7 / 3.0 or are they each unique? Reason I ask is that the car parts websites we've looked at at have all been happy enough to provide us with front springs, but seemingly noone has a rear spring?

Ok, so first off, no, the fronts are unique to the models and as you have a 2.7 V6 it has variable suspension. Front springs are no longer shown as available from Peugeot, but the front variable dampers are still available.

Regarding the rears, the problem you will have is that the springs are not available separately. The unit is a combined variable suspension damper, so has the spring on the damper itself. These are showing as still available though.

Front Springs

Part: 5002KX, No Longer Available, but were £132.98 each when last they were.

Rear Damper / Spring Module Combined.

Item (1) Part: 5207C7, £374.40 each

So that's why you are probably having issues with the rears.

Hi Marc, thanks for the info, I can find rear springs for the smaller engiend variant of the 407 coupé - are they the same across all coupes or are the rear springs specific to the engine size?

No they are not interchangeable. V6 (2.7 and 3.0) versions have variable suspension that is not on the other models and use different versions. All the struts on these V6 models have variable dampers and are linked to the suspension ECU. They are a specific type.

Marc, we are looking to purchase a pair of variable damper/spring unit for one of our 407SW 3.0. Can you direct me where to purchase them as I cannot locate new ones in China any longer. Thanks.

@AlvinCitroenC5: I will need your specific VIN to identify the correct part numbers, from which I can also determine official availability. It is highly unlikely you will get official variable dampers anywhere apart from the manufacturer. If you require specific parts, please see below:

If you can't already find the info you need on the Forum, we do ask for a membership upgrade for official parts data as we are in turn charged for this. It will cover you for future parts requests for up to 2 years, so excellent value.

If interested, links are below, then pop your VIN up.
