2008 oil pressure switch location (2018 130BHP)

Post by Luke245325 »

Hi there
Hoping someone can point me in the right direction. My Peugeot 2008 130BHP 1.2 petrol 2018 model is typically now out of warranty and has an oil pressure warning issue. I thought I'd start by replacing the oil pressure switch and can't for the life of me locate it (my experience on working on cars has mostly been the classic mini's I've owned).
Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Many thanks

Luke

Before you do anything like that, I would read the following:

You will have an EB2 3 Cylinder petrol engine.

These have a 'belt in oil' system, so the oil has to be the exact recommended oil so as not to react with the timing belt. These are well-known to suffer with timing belt shredding, that leads to the debris from the belts blocking up the oil channels and in worst cases oil starvation leading to engine destruction!

The initial timing service on some models are about 60k miles, and the belts are usually replaced with an improved version. So the first sign of a problem can be the oil pressure - alerting you to a blockage.

I would restrict use of the vehicle and contact Peugeot as soon as possible and advise them you suspect this may have the dodgy timing belt issue. They should look favourably on this as they are aware of the issues on these engines.

Pop up your VIN and the mileage you have covered so I can have a look to confirm.

Hi Marc

The car has done just over 42k. the vin number is VF3**************[VIN obfuscated, can be read by forum staff].
Not sure if I'll the garage will look favorably on this, but I can hope.

Yep, this is one of those, so your warranty ended 6th September 2021, so only a couple of months out. Give them a call as I’ve seen others here get Adblue tanks (known issue) replaced even a year or so out of warranty as they know these have problems.

You have nothing to lose.

Thanks for the insight. I'll give the garage a ring on Monday.

I've called up the dealership (Robins & Day), who have booked it in for diagnostics, but not until 11th Jan. Which leaves me carless for now.
I removed the oil cap and took a photo of the belt, which I've attached. No idea if it looks bad or not, but thought I'd share.

Thanks

Luke

That doesn't look too healthy to me! It's hard to tell, but the older belts do 'shed' and this can lead to blockages.

Have a look at my post here with 2 videos on these.....

The official test is to measure the width, but that looks knackered to me!!
