I have had an issue with the heater blower on my Citroen Xsara 2003 intermittently for the past year. It started off by not working at all, and the "solution" was to wiggle the key until it kicked in again, this problem looked identical to the video here -
This happened again and I managed to get it to work by wiggling the key again. This week it has stopped working again and with numerous attempts to wiggle the key in the ignition, the heater blower does not work.
I have read that it can be the ignition switch cable that is faulty and tonight I have tested the 4 wires using a continuity test on a multimeter and they seem to work ok. This is a photo of the connector at the rear of the ignition barrel below:

The plastic surrounding the Y shape looks damaged, will this have an impact on the operation of the heater blower?
The two other ends to the ignition switch cable are below, and these look ok:

I have replaced the heater blower transistor in the past as this is a common fault. When the car is turned over the heater blower fan sounds like it wants to start but it doesn't kick in, this previsouly happened and started to work with the key wiggle temporary fix.
If it isn't the ignition switch cable it could be the fuse or blower motor? I was hoping someone can advise where to go with this?
Thanks
Mike
