Hi All
My Berlingo (1998) has the brake lights permanently stuck on when ignition on. Had a look down by the brake pedal and cannot find a switch to replace/adjust.
Wondering what's causing it - presumably a stuck switch? and where to find it/what to replace?
TIA

Re: Berlingo brake lights stuck on permanently
I’ll need a VIN to confirm correct part number, but the earliest berlingo has a brake switch as part (9) in the diagram below:

Thanks Marc
I must have still been a bit sleepy when I posted this morning- it's actually a 2009 Berlingo, start of the new model! Sorry

No worries - right a completely different one then as expected. It is number 11 in the Diagram below:
| There has been a replacement part since the original, and that is part number: 1606480480 It costs £14.64 from Citroen Inc. VAT |

Yes that will be it. Had the same thing happen on my C5, and managed to pull it apart and fix it without needing a new one.

Great, thanks Marc.
That's why I couldn't see one - it's on other side of car.

Re: Berlingo brake lights stuck on permanently
Found the part - see photo attachment. Interestingly brake lights are still on when the switch is detached from loom. So presume it must default to on if not attached.I will look to order new switch Monday.
Just wondering what the loose red wire is though and whether it is related? Can't see where it goes. Presume it is redundant. Wasn't attached to anything when I took cover off. Thought worth mentioning.

Not sure to be honest - but I would cover it with insulating tape and tuck it away if it evidently hasn't come off of anything you can see and all is working...

Try cleaning the switch with a contact cleaner.
Did you try manually pressing the switch as if it was pressed by a released brake pedal?
You can adjust how much does the yellow bit protrude from the body, check that.

Re: Berlingo brake lights stuck on permanently
Well here's the update. I got a new switch and it didn't solve the problem. It's now been at a Citroen garage for 2 days and they still can't find what the fault is! Apparently not a computer problem but evidently an electrical problem of some kind. Will let you know if they find the solution! Scared to find out what this will now cost m in labour costs!

Re: Berlingo brake lights stuck on permanently
Well it turns out a module for the tow bar lighting had burnt out after getting water in it and caused the problem. This has now been bypassed so no trailer lights but it's solved the brake lights being stuck on.
So if anyone else ever gets this issue check your trailer lights first - you may save the garage 2 days of searching!
