Xantia Remote Batteries.

Unread post by Chlorate »

Hello all, I'm sure this is a common question but I couldn't find the answer.

Not long ago my plip stopped working, finally found some new batteries for them, however neither will lock or unlock the car. What have I missed?
Cheers,

Alex

IIRC what you do is to unlock the car manually, put the key into the ignition, turn the key to the 'M' position, and then press one of the buttons on the fob. That should re-introduce the fob to the car.

N.B. This is the procedure for Xantia II RC remotes. The original Xantia IR remotes are re-programmed differently and in my experience, don't usually need re-programming if you just fit new batteries.

Pull the board out and check the switches and diode don't have any broken connections.

While looking for something else, I found a Mk1 Xantia remote plip which I am 95% sure is in working condition. You can have it if you like.

IIRC MKI's use infrared so you have to make sure there's a clear line of sight to the dome (or adequate reflective angles) when re-synching. Easy way to check remote is emitting, is use a digi-cam - they show the infra red pulses when buttons are pushed. If no show, then strip the casing off and do as elma suggests.

Quickly re-formatted. Took a bit longer to sort the pictures as I'd originally been a bit lazy and cropped/re-sized them within OO-Writer, so when I copied the images just now, they got uploaded at original size/shape
Now sorted, wiki includes pictures for repair.
