The 75th Anniversary of VE Day.

The map of bus route 75 reminded me that the OS Landranger Map series has a sheet 75. It is the area around Berwick-upon-Tweed:

Spooky. In a strange turn of events, at about 1.00pm today I picked up an OS Berwick-upon-Tweed map that had been stuck in a pile of junk for the last 6 months not 2 yards from me However...... it's OS sheet number 64 There is good reason for that though - it's from their one-inch series
Their one-inch series sheet number 75 would appear to cover Dumfries.

No photo, i'm afraid (give it time and Neil will come up with one ), but there was the the Newchurch AA Roadside Telephone Box number 75 on the on the road from Carmarthen to St Clears (phone number St Clears 396 if you want to try )

So where is it......roughly...? On the A40 1.5 miles East of St Clears and with Newchurch the name of the Box.

DIRECTIONS: - From Carmarthen take the A40 dual carriageway west for St Clears/Tenby passing the turnings for Llanllwch, Meidrim, Bancyfelin and Llangynog and just before the Shell Petrol Filling Station/Forge Restaurant and St Michael’s Church turn left signposted Llansteffan/Llanybri. Continue for approximately 100 yds and the property is the SECOND PROPERTY on the left hand side.

So in true Jim Bowen "lets see what you would have won" Bullseye fashion this is where box 75 would have been!

Anyone like a bit of creative photography. exploring the hills and mountains, or even doing both.

Well this chap, David Quentin, does both. Views from the tops of mountains can be breathtaking, but for a little bit of interest make sure you have a bit of "fast film" in your camera and toss a stone up in the air against the expansive background, and you get some "different" images produced.

Well here's his effort at the top of the 75th highest Mountain in Great Britain. The 76th highest Mountain in Great Britain is Snowdon in Wales, the top 75 are in Scotland. So this is from Beinn a' Chlachair (1,087 m) in the Grampian Mountains of Scotland. It lies north of Loch Laggan, near the remote hamlet of Kinloch Laggan .

Now that picture made me think of River Deep Mountain High but there is no way I can think of for determining the 75th deepest river, however I have found the 75th Longest river which turns out to be the Indigirka River in Eastern Russia as you can see in the table in Wiki: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_rivers_by_length
