Happy long weekend.

I want to attempt to replace the BPGA (part no. 9675350380) by myself. Would you be able to check whether my car requires re-programming after replacing BPGA? Cheers.
Oliver
Hi Oliver, sorry I must of missed this post, so haven't been ignoring you. No, there is non programming required for the BGPA unit replacement, just be careful to photograph the position of all the fuses and wires before taking them off, as there is not guide to replacing them, as they can be different for each vehicle depending on fitted equipment.
Hi Marc, dram773,

Thanks for confirming that no programming is required. Also thanks to @dram773 for your useful posts on the bypass. I was a bit sceptical at first but will consider replacement parts on AliExpress for the next fix which I know I won’t need to wait long!

Just posting for the benefit of fellow Peugeot owners. I bought the replacement BPGA (Supplies protection and management unit) from eBay for £191.03 (https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/276434980383) in May 2024 and swapped out the faulty BPGA in early June 2024. I followed the same steps as dram773 in this thread, i.e. battery disconnect procedure then connect to the new replacement BPGA fuses the way it was originally connected to the faulty BPGA. Every problem in my previous post disappeared and 4 months down the line, they haven’t reappeared since. I would say this is definitely a DIY job but just make sure BPGA is the problem before you buy the replacement.

Best,
Oliver

Hello everyone,

I found this thread after hours of google searches on the electical circuit fault error in the main display and the related battery drain due to the BPGA relais not cutting the power.
I'm driving a 508 SW I from 2017, and was wondering whether the BPGA would need reprogramming after it is switched out.
Would a staff member be able to check my VIN number for that as well? Many thanks in advance :P

In case anyone has similar problems, you might find my "journey" helpful:
My 508's battery got completely drained after 1 week of the vehicle sitting in the garage, despite the battery being fairly new and charged.
The electrical circuit fault error message in the display was not always present though, just sometimes.
I realized that sometimes the battery current would be cut completely 4mins after killing the engine and locking the car (cascading current drops about 30-60s apart, then from about 200mA to 0A).
Othertimes it would remain at about 440mA after 2min, and not go any lower. If that happened, the electrical circuit fault error would appear when turning on the ignition.
As such, you have about two times your battery's Ah rating in hours before it goes dead. Probably less if you need the engine to turn over or your battery isn't full 8-)
I was then able to trace the relais that cuts the power to the BPGA module from some forum threads and videos I found, finally leading me here

Hi

The Supplies Protection & Management Unit specifically does not need configuring on this vehicle, but the engine fuse box does.

If you require correct official parts, please see below:

We can help if you need an original genuine part number, part diagram or vehicle factory build sheet and can't already find the info you need on the Forum. For this service, we do ask for a membership upgrade for official parts data as we are in turn charged for this. It will cover you for future part number requests for up to 3 years, so excellent value.

If interested, links are below, then provide your vehicle's VIN in full, which will be masked automatically when you submit your post.

Hi Marc,

thanks for the quick reply, since I'll only replace the BPGA module I can do it myself then.
I have the parts number and already found a replacement part on ebay that should fit my car, so I should be good.
If the repair goes well I'll post the link and parts numbers that it was sold under.

Remember!: Always take pictures or record / write down the existing connections BEFORE removing anything - these are not standard fit and positions for the fuse cables, so are different according to each individual vehicle and options fitted. We've already had a few that forgot this simple advice and got stuck - we can't assist with this for the reasons explained.

Quick update, my repair went without hickups, and I just wanted to share the parts numbers in case someone has a similar problem with a 508. I bought the part on ebay (https://www.ebay.de/itm/166748326646), which was shipped from within Germany without customs involvement. My parts number on the BPGA was 9805119780, but the part I bought was listed under these, also: 9665878080, 9800223680, 6500JE, BSM-AB1-00

I did have a problem with the AdBlue system failing (no pressure at sensor) after the swap, even though the tank unit was replaced a few months ago. The error disappeared and the system seems to have reinitialized itself after clearing the DTC codes once or twice with an ELM327 adapter.

VF3**************[VIN obfuscated, can be read by forum staff]**************[VIN obfuscated, can be read by forum staff]**************[VIN obfuscated, can be read by forum staff]
Took it in to an independent, and got the following fault codes back:
P0494-62 Cooling fan signal
P16BB-00 Short in Starter System. Main Agent only

Does that sound consistent with BPGA issues people have had? Or does it sound like something completely different?

Symptoms like others have mentioned include Electrical Circuit fault on main display, Start/Stop not working, and Service light on.

Any advice appreciated before I reluctantly go to the dealer :(
Just thought I'd share an update - I took it to an independent who did the BPGA replacement (believe the part was sourced from a main dealer) - £563 inc VAT and 2 hours Labour, if this helps anyone with a benchmark price (I'm in Essex, UK). Car seems to be fine now.

Hi,

Today I changed my bpga 3008 2017.

Man oh man, what a struggle I had to remove the cover. The bpga is connected to the metal plate with 2 screws on the back. I had to demolish the plastic cover because it did not come lose. Finally after removing more plastic from the cover I saw an extra screw at the bottom Op the metal plate.

This screw caused so much trouble and I did my research but did not anyone mention this 3rd screw. Because I misformed the metal plate I could not get the cover of my new bpga closed at the position of the 3rd screw. I tried everything and normally I don't give up but at the end I decided 2 screws is enough to keep it tight.

I started the engine and the fault was still there. I thought maybe it needs a reset of the faults.

I had this feeling I forgot something. I began to Google for anything about that 3rd screw and I saw the brown connector. And I knew immediately I forgot to connect it. Connected the brown connector, started the engine. True Magic, the fault was gone, yippie yahee :)

If anyone can show a link to information about the 3rd screw, please let me know!

Hi Marc,

I think I may be having this BPGA issue with our 2015 308SW. The symptoms for my car are:
- Dashboard fault upon startup for the last month ‘Electrical circuit fault: Have the vehicle repaired’ and a permanent SERVICE light.
- When first tested with this error i) Battery and alternator appear to be fine, and ii) no permanent error code was being logged
- As of yesterday, there are no electrics at all - the car remote won't open vehicle, won't turn over or any power on the dash whatsoever.

Would you be able to check whether my car requires re-programming after replacing BPGA? That may dictate if our local mechanic or distant dealership (via towtruck) needs to deal with it.

It's only the engine fusebox itself that needs configuring on this vehicle, not the BGPA unit, Ed.

Hi, so it's only the actual Engine Fuse Box on this vehicle that requires configuration, the Supplies Protection & Management Unit requires no configuration.

Hello

My 2015 Peugeot 308 2.0 HDi has started to show the symptoms consistent with the BGPA issue that has been discussed.

If the mirrors do not fold out when car is unlocked then it is going to take a bit to get it started. In this situation:
- Pressing stop/start button (not touching pedals) the car does not run through its checks.
- Lock and unlock a number of times and eventually pressing stop/start will run through the checks and the car can be started.
- More often than not when it starts it displays “Electrical Fault Circuit” and also advises to check fog lamps. The Service light/word is illuminated and the lights on indicator flashes.
- Turning the fog lights on and off clears the service light and the lights on indicator stops flashing.

Battery was replaced approximately 3 months ago and a BSI reset has been performed.

Would you be able to check whether my car requires re-programming after replacing BPGA?

Thanks

Hi Derek, no programming required for the Supplies Protection & Management Unit - only the Engine Fusebox. But.... make absolutely sure you photograph and / or record the exact locations of the wires before removing them, as there is no default connection guide - each car having different equipment, so different connections and some blanks. I've seen others get stuck on reconnection.....
