Re: PSA NAC RCC Updates - Map version 21.0.0-r0 failed to install
Hello, I had no problem a few months ago updating my maps to 20.0.0-r0. My car is wave 4, and has the most up to date firmware installed 44-07-33-32_NAC-r0. I saw there was a new map update 21.0.0-r0. I downloaded it. I formatted my 32gb sandisk usb stick to Fat32, and using 7zip sent files straight to usb stick. I am using windows 11. Went in my car and started it and turned off start stop, engine running, but every time I insert usb stick in car and press install on the screen a message comes up straight away saying map eur failed. Cant understand why as I have done exactly the same as I did with the map update 20.0.0-r0. If someone could help me get this problem sorted I would be so so grateful. @rui_saraiva

If you already have a 44.07.05.22_NAC-r0 or 44.07.33.32_NAC-r0 version, you can't install this "new" 44.06.44.22_NAC-r1.

Currently, I have version 43.04.26.52 installed.
Today I will try to install version 44.07.33.32
I downloaded 44.07.33.32_NAC-r0 from the website, but the file size doesn't match.
The file I downloaded is 6 164 270 KB and 6 164 268 KB!!!

Re: PSA NAC RCC Updates
The Citroën/DS/Opel/Peugeot/Vauxhall Update is offering again the 44.07.33.32_NAC-r0 firmware version for all the NAC_EUR_WAVE4 infotainment systems.
Unfortunately, that particular file - https://ds4emloty3shq.cloudfront.net/CO ... _WAVE4.tar - still has invalid signing certificates and is impossible to install (you'll see the generic "Version not compatible with hardware" error).
An older file, still hosted in the PSA server and linked from my page - https://majestic-web.mpsa.com/nas/eu/mj ... _WAVE4.tar - has valid signing certificates until 8 November 2026. Both files have 6 312 212 480 bytes, but only the latter is still possible to install.
At least, and until that 8 November 2026, if you want to install the latest firmware, you can use the official software to correctly prepare the USB flash drive (with a valid license for your car and for that firmware version), delete the "SWL" folder (keeping the "license" folder with the valid license), and extract the .tar file (*) linked from my age.
(*) Avoid WinZip (or disable the default "smart CR/LF conversion" setting) and just use a recent version of 7-Zip, that also supports PAX Headers, which is used in these files.

Re: PSA NAC RCC Updates - Map version 21.0.0-r0 failed to install
You should first see a warning about no media files in the USB flash drive. That is expected (in fact, there aren't any audio or video files in the update) and you should just ignore that message. That also means the USB flash drive was correctly FAT32-formatted and the car could read its contents. A few seconds later you should see a message asking if you want to update the maps.gcdec wrote: 23 Oct 2026, 00:20Is there anyone on here that can help me - the Sandisk 32gb usb stick was brand new and only used once to install map update version 20. Any error after this message is usually related to:
- Update prepared in a macOS system that automatically writes extra system files to the USB flash drive. The update fails when computing the checksum of folders with those extra files (Not your case);
- The extraction utility doesn't support PaxHeaders (old versions of 7-Zip, for instance) and/or automatically convert text files (WinZip does that "smart CR/LF conversion" in its default settings);
- The USB flash drive itself might have bad flash memory. Also, many cheap drives are sold with an expected size, when, in fact, they only have a fraction of that space. File corruption occurs;

Car is running, I insert usb into port, message appears, I click install and message appears straight away map eur update failed. I am using Windows 11 not a mac. The san disk usb drive has only been used once and was bought from a shop and not off Amazon or Ebay. I have the latest version of 7zip installed. Usb was formatted correctly, I extracted folder Swl and file Updateinfo.xml direct from .tar file to usb.
I dont understand I did exactly the same as I did a few months ago and update 20.0 went perfectly. Totally baffled.

I just happened to stumble upon your message right at the right time!
I have a 2021 electric Corsa (which I just bought), and based on your site, it looks like I have a "NAC_EUR_WAVE4 infotainment system".
Anyway, it feels like my car has never been updated (currently on 42.01.72.32_NAC-r0), and I tried installing the update (44.07.33.32_NAC-r0) using the Opel utility, but I keep getting a "version incompatible with hardware" error message but i can install without any problem the new maps versions.
If I understand correctly, by downloading the file from your site, I can install it on my Corsa, but does it lack the specific display customizations for the different brands and models (opel, peugeot, citroen)? Can I just install the file as-is?
After reading a few previous answers, please tell me if I'm wrong, but if I have already prepared a USB drive with the requested firmware version using the Opel software (which fails due to certificates), I don't need to replace the license file since it will be the same firmware version as the one on your site, but with the correct "UIN". However, I do need to replace the "SWL" folder with the one from your site?
So the steps would be:
1)Install the update on the USB drive using the Opel software.
2)Download your SWL folder and replace the existing SWL folder on the USB drive with it.
3)Attempt the update in the vehicle.
If, on the other hand, I want to install a different update than the one offered by the Opel software:
1)Format a USB drive in FAT32.
2)Download one of the SWL folders you provide and copy it to the USB drive (https://sites.google.com/view/nac-rcc/?pli=1&authuser=0).
3)Open the UpdateInfo.xml file provided with your SWL folder and retrieve the number inside the UpdateID tag.
4)Retrieve my "UIN" directly from the vehicle by exporting the configuration. As you mentioned, this will generate the files instkey_xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx.xml and packageslist_xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx.txt on a FAT32-formatted USB drive. These two files will contain my head unit's current UIN.
5)Generate the "key" file by replacing the xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx in the URL below with my "UIN", and replacing the mediaVersion numbers with the UpdateID retrieved earlier:
Code: Select all
https://majestic-web.mpsa.com/mjf00-web/rest/LicenseDownload?mediaVersion=001315031692686757&uin=xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx7) Install it in the car.
And one last question: what is the difference between these two versions, and is it really necessary to do these updates?
Thanks in advance, and thanks for your work!

Re: PSA NAC RCC Updates
@Fansgtergangsta:
There isn't any specific firmware for Citroën, DS Automobiles, Opel, Peugeot or Vauxhall (also some Toyota use these systems). The firmware has all the images for every one of those marques and models.
That's it. Just a minor notes:
3) The UpdateID could also be found in my tables (3rd column) or the folder name inside the SWL.
4) The UIN (Unique Identification Number) is always the same for your car, once you have that number, you don't need to repeat that process. You can also find the UIN in the "license/license_xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx_001315031*.key" file created by the Opel Update software.
Those updates only fix problems, mostly related to the car-phone connection (Bluetooth, Apple CarPlay and Google Android Auto). There are no new features. If you don't experience any problems with the current firmware, you probably won't see any difference.

So I understood correctly that in my case I only have to do the three steps I listed!?

Re: PSA NAC RCC Updates
For anyone using the hjertmann/nac-infotainment-updater scripts to prepare a NAC Wave 4 firmware or map USB stick: that repo hasn't been updated since March and still has a few open bugs, especially on Windows.
I've put together a fork that collects the open fixes, with credit to the original author and the other contributors:
https://github.com/arjankapteijn/nac-in ... nt-updater
What's fixed compared to the original:
- Downloads resume properly after a dropped connection, and restart cleanly if the server refuses to resume
- Windows: the firmware script no longer fails to start (encoding issue)
- Windows: a single USB stick is detected correctly, and previously used (GPT) sticks are formatted to MBR/FAT32 properly
- Windows: no more false "archive corrupted" error, and an aborted map download no longer keeps running in the background
- Map version 21.0.0, and a check that the license file is actually valid
- Automated tests for the macOS and Windows scripts
I used this fork myself on a Citroën C5 Aircross: firmware 42.03.33.42 → 44.07.33.32 and then the European map 21.0.0, both with the macOS scripts. The Windows scripts were tested in a Windows 11 VM, including real downloads and USB formatting, but not yet in a car. Feedback is very welcome; issues can be reported on GitHub.

Re: PSA NAC RCC Updates
@Fansgtergangsta: Yes, only the first 3 steps are needed.
@I-cey:
From the README.md:
macos/README.md and windows/README.md:
You probably don't want to do this anyway...
You only need to call the clean_artifacts() for *map* updates prepared on macos. And is enough.
@I-cey:
From the README.md:
It doesn't work, it still has invalid certificates.On October 21, 2026 the file went back to its original, working size (see rui.saraiva's tracker), so the official apps may work again; this hasn't been confirmed yet
macos/README.md and windows/README.md:
This just means the USB flash storage doesn't have any audio or video files - and this is expected in any firmware/map updates. Ignore the message, there's nothing wrong with the flash drive."No media content on the USB memory stick"
This is not the right BSI reset procedure. In fact, this could lead to more problems because you're disconnecting the 12V battery without waiting for all ECU modules to hibernate. The correct procedure is here: viewtopic.php?t=61997BSI Reset (last resort)
You probably don't want to do this anyway...
You only need to call the clean_artifacts() for *map* updates prepared on macos. And
Code: Select all
find /Volumes/*/SWL/002*/Data/data-pkg/NAV/MAP/ -type f ! -name "*.ttpkg" -delete-

Re: PSA NAC RCC Updates
@rui.saraiva Thanks a lot for taking the time to review it, very helpful. I've updated the repo:
- CloudFront: you're right. The file re-uploaded on 21 Oct has the same size as the good one but completely different contents (it's repacked, starts with UpdateInfo.xml instead of SWL/). I've removed CloudFront as a fallback URL, and since size alone no longer tells them apart, the firmware script now also checks a SHA-256 of the first MiB and refuses the CloudFront file. README corrected.
- "No media content": now described as harmless and expected.
- BSI reset: the battery-disconnect advice is gone, the READMEs now link to the procedure in viewtopic.php?t=61997.
- Cleanup: only the map script does it now, using your find command. One small addition: the AppleDouble file of a package (._xyz.ttpkg) also ends in .ttpkg, so ! -name "*.ttpkg" alone keeps it; I added -o -name "._*" for that.
