The NHS recommend 10 micro grams a day of vitamin D. Tesco have their own brand with 12.5 micrograms. A blood test should give the amount of D present.

I just do seven seas one a day , I went for my yearly mot with the Dr had all my bloods done and this time everything was normal ! Very pleased . Nice wash room there Jim them builders have done a great job.

I was taking one 12.5 microgram one and a 5 microgram one daily! Mike, I can't recall exactly what the doctor said my levels were but they were high enough o give her cause for concern!

And very much back to doing something else I love doing

Taking part in what was a quite challenging trail run around the grounds of Holdenby House in very rural Northants

We even had mud!!!

Loved it. My only regret was opting to do the 10K. It was over all too soon and I wished I'd signed up for the half marathon at least. In my defence, when I initially signed up I was not sure of my fitness as I'd only just started on my road to recovery...

A lot of yesterday was spent deep-cleaning my house now all the building works are complete The house looks no different to the casual eye but at least I know it's truly clean everywhere...

I did find time to go for a run with my club and a bike ride in the last of the warm evening sunshine.

I gave the posh van an oil and filter change yesterday, one of very many tasks I need to get done before I go the the seaside next week

And to free me up today for a trip to Whipsnade Zoo with the children

The oil change would have been very straightforward had I not started it up with the air intake pipe and resonator box removed. I left them off so I could see the oil filter to check for any leaks.

That brought up a fault telling me my vehicle needs repair

So it was out with the Diagbox to reset it. Coincidentally, I had dug out the laptop earlier in the morning to update it. Maybe the gods knew it would be needed later...

Then it was off to the tip with a load of domestic rubbish, including around 20 litres of waste engine oil.

Yesterday was a bit of an adventure... Firstly, before I get to the story I extend massive thanks to Zel for digging me out of a potentially deep hole.

Zel, I really can't thank you enough and what you did yesterday was so appreciated by both me and the family

Yesterday, we all went for a day out at Whipsnade Zoo and it was magical It nearly didn't happen though..

Strawberry started absolutely normally and we proceeded without issue to the south of the city. I saw the level crossing barriers were down and knowing how long they take, I switched off the engine to save petrol in the already big queue.

Once the two trains had passed, I went to start and I was greeted with just a clunk and very dim dash lights. The battery had suddenly died - as they seem to do these days - and right in the middle of a busy roundabout

Happily, three big blokes came to my rescue. One told me to put hazards on. They were but very dim!!!

They bump-started me and as there was no way I was going to miss seeing family I proceeded to Whipsnade without issue. I decided my day out was top priority and I'd worry about how I get home later...

Happily, a message to Zel and he immediately raced off, bough me a nice new Yuasa battery and brought it to us at Whipsnade. After fitting, all good. Zel even took my old battery away! Zel, once again, I really can't thank you enough

And all before lunch!

It turned out the old battery was a 'Lion' brand. 'Nuff said

I have now bought a booster pack to keep in the car to avoid this happening in the future...

Question is, why do modern batteries just suddenly die like this?

The day as absolutely magical - we even went for a ride on the Zoo train

Its Chinese brands 9 year ago I had one with a fancy label with a charging black bull on you know all fancy graffic wise , it was rubbish , Chinese knock off , I replaced it with a German brand and all was good. Good to hear your day did go well after the battery issue and we'll done to your mate for stepping up , hats off great rescue

A little postscript to the Whipsnade adventure: I checked the alternator is charging correctly and happily, it is. So just a duff battery.

Yesterday, now the dust has (literally) settled in my house following all the bathroom work, I could get back to a bit of photographic film development

The new bathroom works well for that task...

The shower makes a great film drying cabinet! And dust control, no doubt due to the vinyl floor in the bathroom, rather than carpet, is much better and easier

1975 Suzuki T500

This was taken at the Redbourne Classics Show back in August. I had a T500 absolutely identical to this one; in fact this could have been my old bike...

This one was immaculate and had been the subject of a nut and bolt restoration. I fell in love with it and could have bought it... I somehow resisted the temptation!
