I would assume one of two things has happened there Husky, either the new version is manufactured from stronger material or they realised that the original had been over engineered and so reduced the diameter to make savings! I'd fit it as it has the same OEM number and if it does go awry you will have a claim.

My only niggle is the longest part of my original drive shaft is thick , the new one is thinner BUT it definitely comes up with the matching oem

When I changed my 306's driveshafts the originals (tubular) were much thicker than the replacements (J&R Driveshafts - just a solid bar)

If the splines and length are a match, I'd get it fitted. Am sure it'll be fine.

Tubular driveshaft was intended to reduce its weight, supposed to minimise torque steer I believe??? I couldn't tell any appreciable difference.

Actually the long bit has the intermediate bearing, I don't think the outside diameter of that bearing varies but that'd be another key dimension to check

They look the same , ive not done it yet waiting drive shaft oil seal , or gear box lip seal or what ever else its called now from over 30 years ago lol. Also recalled when did a replacement on my zx estate that one wasn't as thick , same length aswell it drove fine after fitted too.

Good idea i have a back up if it goes wrong. I can make a claim . Plus I was offered 30 day to return if its no good so still got plenty of days left

I’m sure they don’t mean that you can fit the part and use it in the car for a few days and then decide that you don’t want to keep it!

I’m sure they mean that they want it back to them in saleable condition, that is, the same condition that you received it in.

Ive spoken to a handler the other day they said if i place it in the carefully and it fits then that's a keeper, however if it happens to be to short in length by pulling the hub carrier amd front leg to far in then it can go back , ive just got to be careful when doing the task , but offering it up for comparison to the old one length was the same, plus weight aswell . I should be ok

Arrived home earlier today and the seals have arrived, nice , pity now though ive not good light to do the job plus its drizzling aswell . There's always the weekend.

I'm surprised you emailed them for the part numbers, better safe than sorry I suppose. I prefer to just use their website with my car reg and they find everything that fits. I did have 1 issue with springs as the system included a Chevy Corvette C8 front springs. They emailed me the next day saying they were wrong for my car, which shows good knowledge on their part and still sent what I needed before the bank holiday weekend. Plus no faffing in sending something back that wasn't correct.

All fairness they were fast getting back to me next time I need anything im going to try there website, just the time I had was very much taken up with family stuff .... but ... next time , ive book marked the site, oh god I sound like a right geek lol

So new ball joint is in 90nm toqure setting hub

Just checking: this isn't the torque setting you've installed that big 41mm ball joint into the hub at is it?

These are crusty so they got a wire wheel treatment with the cordless drill then rust proofed afterward driver side is all done .
