Test of forum posting speed

Unread post by xantia_v6 »

As part of an ongoing investigation of performance of this forum, I have temporarily disabled the indexing of new posts in the forum search system.

To determine whether this has improved forum performance, please reply here if you have an undue delay (more than 10 seconds) when making a post.

I will revert the forum back to normal configuration in a day or two after gathering some data, and will rebuild the search index at that time so that nothing is lost.

Approximately ten seconds to post a reply to Jim's thread. Otherwise quite quick.

Ed: 8" for this reply.

Will take note of posting time.

EDIT
14s for this post.
As I get older I think a lot about the hereafter - I go into a room and then wonder what I'm here after.

Let's see how long this takes.

----------
12 seconds.

But the edit was less than 2 seconds.
