Quick summary of Diagbox session:

A few other interesting faults will describe when have time.

Key one:
P1490 Particle Filter:
Status intermittent
Fault characterisation: detected overloaded.

Associated variables:
Calculated load value 44% (not sure but think this is engine load at time of the fault)
Coolant temp 83C
Turbocharging pressure 1930 mbar
Engine speed 2115 rpm
Vehicle speed 109 km/HR (nearly 70 mph roughly)

Flow of gas through the particle emission filter 0000 m³/s (!?!?!?)

Cat converter downstream temp 345 C

Particle filter differential pressure 0114 mbar

Regeneration in progress No
Distance since last regen 1 km

Accelerator position 144%

I've had a quick word with her about stamping the throttle into the carpet that hard with both feet! :rofl2:

Live data readings of particulate filter differential pressure:

803 rpm, 4 mbar
1990 rpm, 9 mbar
2983 rpm, 25 mbar

Sounds blocked I guess? I'm sure I've seen acceptable mbar figures quoted, will have a dig in the morning

A great and now almost lost skill is the jointing of lead pipes with wiped solder joints...
The roofers over here do it as we have Galve guttering. Flame thrower heating a copper tip. A good joint looks as beautiful as a good weld.
Ahh yes! shamefully I forgot about traditional roof lead-work... Indeed, a good joint is a real work of art Pete and a real skill as you're working so close to the melting point of the materials being joined...

£80 weigh-in for redundant lead piping is a good result Matt :D

You do seem to get through a few DPFs - or is it my imagination? The latter I trust!

And blaming the other half... Shocking! As bad as my granddaughter getting blamed for breaking her dad's car... See my blog ;)

Indeed these skilled trades should be cherished, "preserved" perhaps. Easier said than done.

Oh yes, copper, lead, aluminium and brass all worth accumulating and weighing in :)
You do seem to get through a few DPFs - or is it my imagination? The latter I trust!
Well, certainly had my fair share of DPF related issues - both 308 SW, the C5 and Sarah's 206 all needed the additive topping up.
The grey 308 had the (mileage derived) "DPF needs replacing" message - following advice in here, and given it had ok differential pressure reading at that point, the car was "told" it had a new DPF but wasn't actually changed.

Actually, from Diagbox, that "telling it" was 17528 km ago :)
And blaming the other half... Shocking! As bad as my granddaughter getting blamed for breaking her dad's car... See my blog ;)
Ha ha, tongue firmly in cheek there! We both found it amusing the concept of 144% push of the pedal

Interesting to compare these values against last set!
viewtopic.php?p=852468#p852468
When fault logged:
Particle filter differential pressure= 0202 mbar
Flow of gas through the particle emission filter 0000 m³/s
2 km since last regeneration
Engine at 1844 rpm.

Quick test on driveway today:

At idle speed:
812 rpm
Differential pressure 015 mbar
(When car initially started differential pressure at idle was 008 mbar, higher reading was after the higher rev readings were taken)

At 1968 rpm
Differential pressure 028 mbar

At 2786 rpm:
Differential pressure 060 mbar
Last set was higher!

viewtopic.php?p=793224&hilit=Mbar#p793224
= Suggests values are ok.
...if the pressure is about 10 mbar at idle and 40 mbar at 3000 rpm stationary it should be OK...
Average distance between last 10 regents reported as 505 km so not that frequent.

viewtopic.php?p=793115#p793115
= New cheap DPF is still "on the shelf" here.

I'm curious about that Galve guttering. It's the first time I've come across that term.

Absolutely and happily, the vast majority of them are as for many, there remains a residual need. Traditional lead roof work being just one of them.

I do my bit by keeping a few traditional skills alive such as clocks, valve radio/electronics and to a lesser extent, old cameras.

Batch 6:

Parking sensors. Last time I scanned it one sensor was reporting a fault, I bought a replacement (Autodoc) but not fitted as couldn't recall which sensor Diagbox had flagged up. Now three different sensors with subtly different faults reported!

A couple of little trailer trips today, first time the builders merchant for 330 kg (£12!) of "recycled pipe bedding" for down the hole. The man from Building Control is happy with our handy work so we can begin back filling.

Second trip to deliver my mixer to my in-laws as some flags to be laid.

Another trailer job (big trailer next) awaits tomorrow morning :)
