I thought that for most women, the two were one and the same.

I tackled the rear wheel bearing took 2 hrs was a bit of a faff my press didn't have a perfect fit for the one in it but it came out , pressing one back in was easy as I used the out case of the old bearing which I've built up a little collection of over the years and do come in very handy as there perfectly sized. How ever .... the noise is still there , im now thinking either the new shock is naff , or , filler neck pipe possibility of that hitting wheel arch liner , and another grrrrr , part of the lip the wheel sits and slides over broke off ! Ffs moment now I got to buy a completely new drum all that effort for nothing todays been crap. Went to get some items in a shop this morning self check out didnt want to play ball , young shop assistant was a useful as a chocolate tea pot he could see something was wrong and just stood there looking like a butterfly has just flown past him, so I shoved the trolly to him said stuff that and went else where , cant be doing with it

Anyone know the thickness the brake drum should be ? Untill they need new ones ?

Sorry drum maximum inside diameter or shoe friction material thickness?

Sorry I haven't a book of lies for 207, if they've carried over same drum setup as the 206 uses, then here's the figures from Haynes:

306 has
New 180mm to max 181mm or Bendix new 228.6 to max 230 mm
Shoes new 4.85 mm to minimum 1.5 mm

Plenty of free play with hardly any effort to make it move and wiggle till it pops off part of itself, top photo completed task

Bushfix a pair of long nose pliers to make it fit the retainer clip
Funny thing was the proper pair I have snapped at the most important point so this rendered them useless.my bushfix did the job

225 mm ID sounds like a 9 inch drum. Our 2010 C3 had that size and it had a hub nut with a built in washer and 300 Nm torque setting with a bit of grease on it.

Sounds the same my hub nut has the same set up. 300nm yes and domt i know it my poor back

Had it confirmed as correctly fitting my car so a new unit was then purchased and will be here in a couple of days.

Even though the wheel bearing was replaced and a part of the hub fell off i was able to get the wheel on and bolted up , gave it a wiggle after to check if there's play , none . The new one should be here couple of days £56... not to bad. Most annoying is ive still got this noise it sound like plastic , filler kneck might be hitting the wheel arch liner ? Next free time ive got im going to put the original shock back on to rule out that , then while there check again the fuel filler kneck . Update will follow in a few days.

I did not have a torque wrench that went up to 300 Nm so got a Machine Mart digital torque adaptor https://www.machinemart.co.uk/p/040215238/ After I realised another one I had went close enough and used that, again with the pipe on it. To undo the nut needs a long wrench, I have an 18 inch breaker bar and then a bit of pipe to go over it to make it longer. Possibly a 36 mm 6 point impact socket used.

I still use my old big long breaker bar with a scaffolding pudlock slipped over the top , think i was told a while back the a shoulder of the hub nut itself equal about 75Nm so I torque up first 200Nm with the wrench ,then work out a marker to tighten this shoulder part of the hub nut and then long bar with scaffolding pole ,pole 3 feet long , nip the thing up in line with the marks I make and in my mind I think ok got a tad more , then thats it im where I need to be , you sort of feel its ok

18" is 450mm, think my half inch drive breaker bar is 600mm (24")

However that 3/4 inch bar is 39" obviously need corresponding 3/4 " drive sockets set
