Hello, Friends!

MOT time has been and gone. I failed on 2 minor hydraulic leaks and a BIG fuel leak. He “reseated” the errant fuel line with a hammer but I am still leaking from the seal at the top.

Papa has ordered a new filter housing while his Wallet attacks. Hear the screams…..

Love

Hello, Friends!

Well, the new fuel filter and brake line were fitted with no real drama. Papa twirled his spanners like an expert. He even bled my brakes!

He discovered that a couple of ball bearings had gone astray from the CV joint and nobody knows what model my old drive shafts are (!) so he bought a new one!

Sadly we had to wait nearly 2 weeks for what should have been an overnight delivery for the brake line. Bloody EVRI! So that’s Autodoc off Daddy’s list. Whatever!

Still, I passed my MOT yesterday so I am street legal!! Whoopee!!!!!

Love to all

Great result OC, and there's nothing like a spanner swinging Daddy, or at least that's what my daughter tells her friends!! :-D

Hello, Friends!!!!

Otterchops here.

Hehehehehehehe! I’ve extracted money from my famously tight Daddy’s Wallet!

Mind you, it could have ended badly so I’m not too chuffed. Anyways, I made my brake make a grinding noise so Papa thought the pads had worn out. He ordered new ones straight away after checking my disc which was nit scored. This should have told him what I’d done. I’d spat out one of the bolts securing my callipers. See what I mean? I went silver with shock! Anyway, Papa said I was a Very Silly Girl and belted me a few times with his Big Hammer to help reseat my brake calliper. All sorted now and I’m ready to roll……

IPad says he’s looking for bits.

Ooo-errrrr…..

Love

Hello, Friends!!

Otterchops here.

The Saga of my Brakes continues.

The right hand piston had seized so Papa doused it in WD40 and left it overnight. While it was soaking he consulted Mr Haynes. Just as well he did! He’s been twirling my brake pistons the wrong way. So that explains all the knackered handbrake mechanisms!!!! :rofl2: :bl:

It to him a while to remember how the wind back tool worked - I told you he was an Old Fool - then he rewound the piston with a little swearing. Then when he stood up, I knew why. Lying on cold, damp concrete dun ‘alf set his arthritis off!!! :-({|= :bl:

Shouldn’t laugh.

Anyway he’s gone for :teabag: and snuggles with Hounds.

I dare say I will meet his hammer. It has taken up residence in my capacious boot….

Love to all

Otterchops.

PS. If I’m not on again before Chringle have a good one. Or, as Papa whispers: HAIL SATURNALIA!!!!! :Santa: :rudolf: :tgif:

Re: Life on the edge - the Diary of a C5 alternator not alternating

Unread post by Xantianut »

Hello, Friends!

Otterchops here.

I have had an interesting time. Last week, I fried my alternator and Papa had to call the RAC. They lent me a charged battery which got me home. Papa then charged my own and put me on ramps.

The carbon brushes have flowed down the casing and caused the shaft to seize which bust the clutch pulley. So he bought a 2nd hand one. This had the wrong connections.

He then ordered a 120 amp one that has the right connections but he can’t make it fit. Do the different engines have different alternators? And are the bolt spacing different or is he just being a Twit. He says it’s for a 2.0 petrol. The cheek!!!!! :hb: :help2: :sulk: :dunno:

Anyway my old one has this label on the back. Papa thinks it’s a 150 amp unit. Is this right? :dunno: :tgif:

Bless him, he’s confuzzled……. :rofl2:

It'd be cheaper if he just bought a very very long extension lead and plugged one end into a socket at home, and the other into a battery charger in your engine bay. That way you could carry on your journeys and never have to worry about running out of electricity :-D

Please don’t tempt him! I can see me dragging a trailer with a generator…… :rofl2:

Anyway, he worked out the part numbers from the VERY faded label and it’s a 150A unit.

New one on its way…..

Would it then become a hybrid?
