Ah, thought had added complication of a special tool with prongs on, like this:RichardW wrote: 13 Apr 2024, 20:57 Those screwed in joints can be a mare - needs a 41mm very deep socket, and sometimes the thread is no good and they can be very tight. I find it easier to remove the hub and get it in the vice.
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/141461392455? I'd not had a close look at the 308 and spotted a hex fitting.
Having said that, 41mm is well beyond my normal set!

Strange thing, walking back from the shops there was what I took to be a Peugeot Bob parked there.
A combination of muck and reflected sunlight, it was of course a 308.
My youngest son is a Bob. His first car was a 206 but a Peugeot Bob would have been perfect.

To do.
308cc vs a blind pot hole =
Inner tie rods , lower wish bones , lower ball joints , just checked and cross referenced prices for wheel bearing , hub , carrier , vs the faster way , which is going to cost more , but ive decided to buy complete hub & carrier then i can pop the new lower ball joints in , get the inner tie rods done with everything out of the way then , pop in new lower wish bones, pop the hub carrier back on fit back drive shafts , do drop links , upper tie rods , and so on and so on , then i know its all new , wheel alignment is easy . My string method is pretty good each time ive gone for a free wheel alignment check its been ok . Just got to wait now for the parts , i have most of them , just need these new carriers with the hub & bearing all ready in , then repairs can be sorted . Back soon with more updates.

Them sockets are nice Matt , you may find your be getting bigger sockets in the not to distant future as ive seen some parts are getting rather big . Get what you can tool wise as your need them. Boot fairs are good for tools .

Excellent pictures Husky! If you've been doing all that in the hot sunshine, it's no wonder you are knackered! It's hard work in the hot weather.
