D'ohh, my C5 X7 has just failed the MOT. Part numbers for rear discs and pads please.
Both outer CV gaiters have also failed. What's the OE offering? Or should I go for a universal gaiter that can be pulled over the joint without dismantling?

They are Cheaper, easier to fit & in most cases better quality than the originals. No brainer really.Paul-R wrote: 16 Feb 2024, 18:30 Or should I go for a universal gaiter that can be pulled over the joint without dismantling?

How easy are they to fit? Especially if you don't have one of the powered f***y stretchers?

Answered my own question. I've found that you can get a plastic cone for a tenner.

Re: C5 X7 Driveshaft Gaiters
Some X7s are fitted with shafts where the CV joint doesn't come off, so a stretch boot is very preferable to pulling the shaft and dismantling it to allow the boot to fitted from the other end!

Re: C5 X7 Driveshaft Gaiters
Have they split or just "popped" off the joint?, mine "Pop" off the hub occasionally, I think it's when turning the steering on full lock when the suspension has no weight on it, for instance on high or on axle stands.Paul-R wrote: 17 Feb 2024, 20:32 Answered my own question. Re: C5 X7 Driveshaft Gaiters
I don't know, it's been too cold to look. The gaiter on the left has popped off before when the original clip broke off and disappeared. I fixed it when I did the suspension ram last year so it may actually be a split this time. They are 11 years old now!
