Hoping someone can help me.
Our Citroen Relay (2008) started showing the door open sign on the dash which meant we weren’t able to lock our van using central locking (this has left the sliding door and passenger door permanently open).
We’ve had it in to two garages and this is what has been checked/done so far:
Computer showing back door is the issue
Packed out sensor on side sliding door just in case
New lock mechanism fitted on back door but no change to dash light
Checked continuity in all wires from driver side loom to back door connectors
Repaired some wiring which had broken in the back door loom but still showing door open
Our next step will be to try and cut the wire near the drivers loom to potentially bypass any broken/interrupted wires in the loading area (maybe a screw making contact or hitting some metal and earthing). From the wiring diagram I think I’ve identified the correct wire but if anyone can confirm or tell me I’m crazy that would be helpful!
I also wondered if anyone has had a similar problem and can shine some light on how we can fix this before we start chopping wires!
Thanks in advance
Nicole

Re: Citroen Relay door sensor showing doors open permanently (unable to lock)
Correct, but ideally you would want to cut it near the BSI end, as if it is earthing out somewhere you will still get the warning. The closer to the BSI you cut it the less wire there is to potentially be shorted out.
Before i went down that route though have you disconnected it at the lock end and at the BSI (big black plug, cat see the numbers that well in the pic) & checked that there is no continuity to earth?

Thanks for the input!
Haven’t done that last check yet actually so will give that a go before we start cutting the wires. I’ll let you know how we get on

I have the exact same problem.
Where do I find the drawings for the wires please?
Is there a way to lock everything manually?

Re: Citroen Relay door sensor showing doors open permanently (unable to lock)
We actually got them from a garage which tried to fix the problem. I requested them from them and thankfully they were able to download them for free. I’ll attach the pictures here for what we have (just a few relevant pages.)
We haven’t found a solution for our passenger door or the sliding door yet but have been able to manually lock the back door and the drivers door. We’re just sitting ducks at the moment! Next step for us if the wire cutting doesn’t work will be dead locks for the 2 remaining doors

Re: Citroen Relay door sensor showing doors open permanently (unable to lock)
FIXED IT! Sort of.
We cut the wire labelled number 2 on the diagram which is a very tiny/thin blue and white cable which runs from the switch in the back door through to the BSI. We cut it at the drivers side loom and hey presto! Central locking works and the door sensor is now disconnected. We believe there’s a break in the wire somewhere in the loading area, potentially caused by a screw or maybe corrosion but who knows.
It’s not a permanent fix but it will do for us for now! I guess a permanent fix is to rerun some new cables to the back door but that’s a future job.
Pictures of the wire we cut for reference.

Re: Citroen Relay door sensor showing doors open permanently (unable to lock)
Hi Nicole & all,
We are having a very similar issue with our 2017 Peugeot Boxer camper. The dash indicates rear doors are open and the central locking system won't work. Using contact cleaner and then padding out the rear door sensor contacts and pins didn't solve the issue. All the doors are closing and latching securely, so there is some issue either with the sensors/switches at the side or rear doors or the circuit is broken elsewhere.
We can't get an auto locksmith out for a few days to investigate further and we're left with a van that won't lock! Did you ever find the source of the fault in your door sensor system? We were considering snipping the same wire in the driver's side loom as you did, as a short-term fix. One question -- in that wiring bundle, there appear to be two separate blue/white wires, of slightly different diameters. How did you distinguish between the two to determine that you were snipping wire #2 as shown in the wiring diagram.
Does anyone here know of any other way to hardwire the side door sensor or ground out the entire door sensor circuit to allow the central locking system to function?
We'd be grateful for any help/advice, as we've run into a bit of a dead end.
Best wishes,
Hannah

Re: Citroen Relay door sensor showing doors open permanently (unable to lock)
Hey Hannah,
Ah, I’m sorry to hear you’re having the same issue. It drove us mad for weeks not being able to lock the van!
Unfortunately we haven’t found a permanent fix other than leaving the wire disconnected. It allows us to bypass the sensor so it never really knows if the back doors are open or shut. But it’s worked for us so far!
As for the wire, we had to assume it was the smaller, much thinner wire as it was only for a switch. If there’s any size difference in the two wires you have, it will be the thinner wire.
You can always cut it, try your central locking, and if it’s the wrong wire you can reattach them together using a soldering iron or clips.
Hope you manage to fix it; even if it is with the botch we came up with
Good luck!

Re: Citroen Relay door sensor showing doors open permanently (unable to lock)
@pammy123 I apologize for the necromancy of reviving this topic, but I'm also having this issue and I'm a little desperate. I also started my own topic here: viewtopic.php?t=82064
I was hoping you could give me some details on the issue you/we were/are having.
Thanks all!

- Do you know if the van distinguishes between the left and right rear door and the side sliding door? I was now doubting which of the door sensors is broken, as having any of those three doors open gives the same message. While opening the passenger door for example gives a message on the dashboard like 'passenger door opened'.
- EDIT: I managed to the open-door warning to stop by disconnecting the blue-white and black sensing wires in back door. On the right rear door has a sensor. Opening the sliding door gives the exact same error, so you cannot distinguish between the three doors being open!
- Did you find where the wires of the door sensor go? I would like to measure the state of the sensors + all wires, so if I could measure at the control unit / computer / whatever that would be great.
Thanks all!
