Following the Ebay link, the video in the description is interesting as it shows a key tester which displays both frequency and modulation type. All testers I've found on Ebay don't show whether the signal is ASK or FSK. It doesn't look like a very expensive tester (said he, hopefully) but where to get one from?

Even on VAN/CAN i have never heard that only 2 out of the 5 keys can be remotes. Cant think if i have ever tried it either on the VAN/CAN systems though. Never seen any docs or anything in Lexia menus that i can think.

On a side note I recently programmed a proximity key to a Kia Sportage (around 2019 model) & it turns out these can only have 2 keys programmed into them at the one time in total  this is the lowest amount of key slots i have ever seen on a car. Most vehicle will allow 4-5, some Merc & BMW allow 10.

I have it from a good authority, a guy who cracked the VAN BUS remote transmitter and transponder pairing encoding.
Started a post on Digital KAOS. Builds and sells his own scanner and decoder software. Probably not worth the money this late in the day if you know what I mean.
https://cartools.lv/PDFs/PSA_remote_reader.pdf
The instructions warn that the BSI will not accept more than 2 remotes.
Is he wrong? Well I'm not going to tell him. :-D

If you can scan the output of the remote, the common data stored on the transponder chip can be decoded from the stream. You can then give that stream to some guys on digital KAOS and they will decode the data to write onto the transponder.
I am trying to get a universal receiver and hitag2 writer to work at the moment. I should then be able to get my first used remote to work.

As i sad i dont recall ever trying to add more that 2 on a VAN/CAN BSI but I don’t recall Lexia ever saying only 2 allowed.

Anyone have any idea about this?

Just had a look at the video, the tester they are using is the VVDI key tool Max, They are around £350. Its a bit more than a signal checker, Its main use is for generating the universal remotes we have previously spoke about. It also generates & clones transponder chips and can be used for unlocking used remotes to virginise them.
I have the key tool mini which has the same functions but doesent have its own screen like the one in the video, you use an app on your phone to connect to it & display the info
