C5 (X7) Cream interior - touch up for gold accent panels?

Unread post by Jay-Bruce »

Hi, our C5 has the cream leather interior, with the gold accents, and I'm looking for a colour code for that gold, or a part number for a touch up paint in that colour, or any suitable vehicle colours that are extremely close?

My X7 exterior was in painted Mativoire Beige, with the full leather Claudia Matinal L019 "XT" interior.

The interior trim handles on the doors were coated in a very then and flimsy rubberised coating that just peels off over time, so I took the lot off, stripped, primed and painted them the same colour as my vehicle bodywork.

The paintwork complimented the exterior perfectly, but I think the name of the light coloured trim on mine was called HZW- - MORNING GREY

Cheers Marc, Yes, it's the door handles that are looking tatty, exactly as you described, a thin rubberized coating. Colour coding the door handles wouldn't work on our car as Noir Perla Nera (black) would look godawful against the Claudia cream. Earlier this year I redid the handles in a generic, pale champaigne gold, which looks like lamborghini yellow next to the other "gold" pieces. After reading your reply here, I googled HZW to see if I could get any pictures of it, and it turns out you and I have discussed this before:

Part (1) which is the complete door trim pad....

Right: 9345E5 (CLAUDIA SPLIT LEATHER - L033- HZW- - MORNING GREY), £1064.05
Left: 9345 E6 (CLAUDIA SPLIT LEATHER - L033- HZW- - MORNING GREY), £652.88

Neither of the above are now available from Citroen :(
Which was when I asked you to see if the grab handle trim pieces were available.

I've got to say KCH Mantivore Beige is a good shout, I've been looking at that and a similar colour, KCY Golden white metallic:

I'm likely to push the button on a pair of custom mix rattle cans, one mantivore beige, one golden white...

I thought we had! Anyway, turns out that Citroen are already discontinuing some of the actual door trim pieces already

Given that these have very fragile plastic clips, (I lost a few) despite being extremely careful, I'd treat them like gold dust.

I tried to find some pictures, but I recall I don't think I had time to take them at the time as I was sooooo stressed on the priming and painting - having to strip one of them down for the second time as it wasn't completely grease-free and ended up bubbling.

If you did a gloss black against the cream it could work quite well.

A lot of companies use Piano Black wood against a cream interior and it looks good.

A number of years ago I put cream leather seats and door card inserts into our V40 which had graphite grey dash board & door cards with dreylon fabric seats and door card inserts, and it looked cool. But, on the C5 I'd need to recolour lots of items that really want left alone such as the electronic parking break, the stereo yada yada...

Ahh yea, forgot about those bits.

2 of the 3.0's I've owned have had the black interiors that wear incredibly well, the other 3.0 I've had with the beige interior had the same problem you're having. The coating on the beige interiors is strange being that rubbery stuff whereas the black ones are painted with gloss black.

My 2009 X7 has the black part leather, door grab handles - part 8 on Marc's diagram - are black plastic but with a slightly rubbery coating (rather than painted as described). It's just starting to chip away at the edges. Black shiny plastic underneath.

I'll try and get a half decent picture when I get chance.
