Hi
Anyone know how to remove the boot release button that's above the rear number plate in the bumper? Mine seems to be stuck in causing the boot to open when you open the car with the remote.
I don't use the button in the bumper so just want to remove it to solve the issue. I've tried to pull the rubber button down and out but it feels solid. Hoping it's not a bumber off job.
Thanks

Re: DS5 boot release button in rear bumper
You have 3 components:
The Striker plate on the bumper
The Actual Electronic Lock in the tailgate that engages with the Striker
The Electronic Button that unlocks the tailgate which is s separate Switch and on the bumper.
So to get to the lock or the switch, it's a matter of removing all the inner tailgate trim to get to other trim that has to be removed before these 2 components can be accessed. The electronic switch should be replaced, otherwise you will have a gaping hole where it is - as it's a single module.

Re: DS5 boot release button in rear bumper
Hi
Thanks for your quick reply.
It's just this button that I need out. I noticed last night that the analog clock was lit up all night too, hoping that's because the boot button is constantly pressed in!?
Thanks

Yes, that's the switch (next to your reversing camera) that is a squarish module that sits inside with an electrical connector. You need to replace it otherwise you'll neve get the boot open from the outside - and you'll have water / moisture getting in and rotting the wiring loom leading to other issues.

Re: DS5 boot release button in rear bumper
Thanks.
Just a bit confused as to how I access the button. Are you saying it's not a bumper off job? The external boot release button is solid in the bumper. Can I take the trim off inside the boot and access it from there? Or is the bumper not accessible from there? I saw a bumper removal guide on a other forum and that showed a hole/cut out behind the number plate but I don't think mine has that.
Thanks for your help. Just wanting to get access to the external button.

Pop your VIN up for me so I can see exactly which type of access system you have (please post your VIN in full without spaces - it will be automatically masked from public view after submitting your post & will only be visible to staff).

Re: DS5 boot release button in rear bumper
Ok, so apologies, the diagram shows it on the tailgate, but it's a 'sectional' image, intended stupidly to show the electronic lock - which is as your picture shows on the bumper part unlike a lot of other PSA vehicles. I've clarified my previous post to specify the location of the electronic switch.
So yes, in this case, it is a bumper off job to access it, which is quite involved on this model.

Re: DS5 boot release button in rear bumper
VIN is VF7**************[VIN obfuscated, can be read by forum staff]
Thanks. Was really hoping that wasn't the case
Might just see how much the dealership wants for the job as I know bumper off jobs can be involved including removal of lights, wheels, wheel arches etc.
Do you know if the faulty button would cause the dash clock light to stay on? Or is that another issue? I think the handbrake light was also lit up all night too. I'm hoping that is caused as it thinks someone is pressing the boot release button.
Thanks for your help, appreciate it.

Re: DS5 boot release button in rear bumper
Very likely related. You also have the Hands-Free Access & Starting, so there is a boot aerial in there too. The waring light is indicative of a fault.
These electronic boot switches are very sensitive - some think they are mechanical devices and give them a good push in, but they are just micro switches, so only need a slight touch to make the contact to operate the circuit, so too much force over time can damage the switches.

Re: DS5 boot release button in rear bumper
It's rare that I even press that button tbh. Usually just use the keyfob button to open the boot.
I'm going to have a go at getting the button out tomorrow. Do you happen to know what the part number is so that I can get a replacement? Thanks.

If you need an original, genuine part number, and can't already find the info you need on the Forum, we do ask for a membership upgrade for official parts data as we are in turn charged for this. It will cover you for future part number requests for up to 2 years, so excellent value.
If interested, links are below, I already have your VIN.

Re: DS5 boot release button in rear bumper
Ta. I'd already sent an email to my local dealers for the part number and they've already replied! It's 6490 RZ.
Im now looking for the fuse for the boot release but can't find it anywhere in the boot/online. Do you happen to know if there is a fuse for the boot release button? Ta

Re: DS5 boot release button in rear bumper
That is the correct part.
There is no fuse for the boot release control module - it is controlled by a relay in the BSI which are non-replaceable. As said, your issue will likely disappear when you have replaced the electronic module.

Re: DS5 boot release button in rear bumper
Hi, since we are on the topic of the DS5 tailgate/boot lock-release module. Like to ask if this module is linked to the trunk space interior light in what way?
I recently diy installed an auto tailgate , which comes with a similar lock-release module as the original (connector slot and all) but the trunk space interior light no longer triggers. Whereas the key fob release and car switch button release still works
Does anyone have the wiring schematic of this trunk space interior light, I read that the part might be PA6MX30

Re: DS5 boot release button in rear bumper
My DS5 does not have an external boot release button. Was this a factory option?
