I have a whole range of hammers. Starts with a Toffee Hammer, then MOT tester's hammer, and works through various metal, rubber and leather ones up to half one and a full blown Sledge Hammer.
So, yes, if in doubt try a bigger hammer - until you are doing the full Basil Fawlty with the Sledge!

Then there's - If Gaffa tape won't fix the problem then you're not using enough Gaffa tape!
As I get older I think a lot about the hereafter - I go into a room and then wonder what I'm here after.

Inside every old person is a young person wondering what the hell happened.

A couple of farmer's fences have lost their middle wire to the greater good of Stage Rallying. I am just not going to admit where or when.

I think by that stage you are more into the realms of "teaching the car a lesson for daring to defeat you" rather than whatever the original task was!

You know, this stage:

As I grow older, I'm slowly realising that "Lifetime warranty" does not necessarily mean "(oil) rig-mechanic-proof", so I'm trying to get out of some of my guerilla tactics, but I bought one of these:

...which is kind of meta, it's a pucca tool to enable you to guerilla the foxtrot out of a spanner, aye, ok.

That's a well useful tool Jay!

Better than my long ring spanner method!

I keep looking at those, but leaving it be as-
- seems expensive for what it is (especially, like Jim, I do the ring spanner linking thing for free)
- I think I'll just break things if let loose with that! :-D

I know what you mean, it does seem daft to buy somethicng shiny but spendy just to do something you can already do for free with basic tools. But, like I said, I'm trying to get out of my bad habits, and hooking the ring end of one spanner over the open end of the one that's actually on the bolt, presumably by its ring end, or it's a double open ender, simply isn't kosher. I'm also trying to drill myself out of using the side of a ratchet as a hammer, or a screw driver as a prybay/chisel.

But, yeah, I've got a highly questionable, but highly effective "tricks" that I've used over the years, such as pitting a shackle through the end of a stilson, attaching a leverpull "come along" chain hoist to it, and pulling the stilly with about 3 Tonnes of force. Another cool but "would get me fired" trick was rigging up a 30t Enerpac hydraulic cylinder (industrial jack) to push a flogging spanner,. I took the locking wheel nuts off a discovery we had a few years back by putting a bolt in a set of point nose mole grips, clipping the earth clamp to the mole grips, and srick welding the bolt to the locking nut.

Inner race bearing extractor. The real one doesn't work due to the lock stops.

This does (and was the advised method on the Z1OC) A very overly sharpened old wood chisel and a tapometer.

Notice the BX is still top the list but sadly gone

I have a couple of different size pairs of old-school car-size tyre levers that do sterling service in that role Pete :)
