Re: 307 HDI 2.0l non starter.
Some fault codes may be 'historic' (from problems in the past that have since been resolved), and have no bearing on your current problem. Clearing the faults should weed out any 'historic' faults, and when you try to start the car again you will know that the fault codes are current and probably relevant.

Re: 307 HDI 2.0l non starter.
Ive cleared the faults and only the glow plug relay fault has come back, Im going to try and run the starter motor on a separate battery from the rest of the car, just as a last-ditch effort to get some live data.

Finally able to pull some live data while cranking, no cam or crank syn, no fuel pressure and no rpm, the separate battery for the stater did the trick now I've got somewhere to start looking.

Found a great ECU wiring pinout. The forum may want to put this somewhere easy to find, Oh crap it says it will not do a PDF or its too large, let me know if there is some other way to get it on your forum.

Save it as a vector graphic ideally but a .png or .jpg may be acceptable.

Re: 307 HDI 2.0l non starter.
I've put it up in the air and had a good look at the wiring all tests fine, the crank sensor looks brand new but I did notice it doesn't fit quite right, pulled it off and whoever fitted has managed to bend it and won't sit flat when bolted down, I ll pick up a new one and go from there.
The PDF is 147 pages long It will only save a JPG one page at a time. That will make a mess of this post, and I don't really want to spend that amount of time making a mess of your forum. If you PM me I'll email it to you. Here's the info I was looking for, every page is gold. It has what to expect on the scope, and how to test every sensor.
The engine will run on areo start, but no I haven't checked the cam belt. Next on the list...

Re: 307 HDI 2.0l non starter.
Forgot it will fire on easy start, cam belt probably OK. Fix the crank sensor which should give crank speed and synch, then address the fuel pressure. This is the later engine I think? HP pump is driven off the end of the camshaft. Rare but not unknown for the drive dog to break off the camshaft...

I've ordered a crank angle sensor but it won't be here for a couple of weeks, I'll report back when it gets here.
thanks, everyone for your input.

Re: 307 HDI 2.0l non starter.
Ok, so I replaced the crank angle sensor and the cam angle sensor as I could not get any signal on an otoscope from either of them. cranked it over and the first thing I noticed was a diesel leak from the number one injector. This is promising it's not done that before, The pipe fitting was tight but the injector fitting was loose. Did I mention everyone has had a go at this car? I removed the pipe and tighten the fitting and refitted the pipe. cranked it over and it fired right up.
Thanks to everyone who posted your input it was greatly appreciated. My guess is someone broke the new crank angle sensor when they fitted it and when I saw that it was new.... well I should have started there, not assume that someone else replaced it so it must be OK.
Just put the car back together and took it for a drive, it's a little rocket. Just its been sitting so long that the brakes are rusted up so makes A horrible noise and doesn't stop too well.
thanks Again

Re: 307 HDI 2.0l non starter.
Just an update, the new crank angle sensor failed after about 500kms, so I replaced it again with a bosch one so I think that is fixed now. Then it threw up the de-pollution fault, DPF not found or some such thing on PP2000. I ordered an unlocked ECU from HDI tunning with the EGR and DPF removed pulled off the DPF and found someone had drilled a hole through the middle of it. The new ECU gave me problems as soon as I fitted it, the engine light on, AC not working cruise control not working random beeping and weird codes P000 ? what TF, after a bit of back and forth with HDI tuning, I bought a KESS, put the original ECU back in and read it via the OBD sent it to HDI and they wrote me a new ECU map and wrote back to the ECU. The car now goes like a rocket and ive done about 800km without issues. It now has 185hp so I'm sure my misses will enjoy the speeding tickets. Oh almost forgot, I filled it up with fuel and it pissed out everywhere, the locking ring on the fuel sender, was quite loose, got about 1/2 a turn out of the ring. Just another mess to clean up.
