Colour matrix display

Post by Suggy »

OK so I have a set off clocks from a 308cc that came with the orange matrix display I also have a colour matrix display that will physically fit in the clocks. The orange display is locked and cannot turn stuff on or off. The colour display if from a 208 which I believe is can 2008 (308 is can 2010)
So does anyone know how to unlock the orange display? or a way off converting the canbus so the colour screen will work. I remember reading someone had mad a convertor but for the life in me cannot find it again

There is no CAN2008 and a 308 had the CAN2004 architecture for initial models, so it depends on the year of the vehicle and model. The Comms unit version (COMMS 2008 for example) is not the same thing as the electrical architecture used on the vehicle.

At the end of the day you need the correct part for your vehicle. You can't make an incompatible one work.

CAN 2004 and CAN 2010 is correct. These are electronic architectures that are present on different PSA vehicles. I wouldn't bother with all that waffle in the article - for 100 Euros you could probably just buy the correct screen in the first place.

This is why you need the correct part for your vehicle otherwise they may not be compatible if operating on different electrical architectures.

That article is just talking about adaptors and programming for different PSA systems and nothing really to do with your original question.

The only colour screens fitted on the 308s are those that were supplied with a telematics system like the RT4, RT6. Navidrive 3D etc., which had the larger colour screens.

I'm not with you - the clock is part of the matrix screen (2).

A photo may help..

I've just had a read back and realise now that you seem to be trying to fit CC parts to a non CC vehicle. The vehicles are wired differently and have different instrument cluster displays depending on model and fuel type and a host of other options.

I can only help you with parts that were fitted at factory designed for your vehicle. There's a high likelihood that parts from another vehicle will not work or interface correctly.

Ok, the matrix display in the instrument panel. Unfortunately, your instrument cluster does not have a separate matrix screen shown as a replaceable part.

Also, be aware that changing these parts may increase your odometer reading, as the ECU in the instrument cluster will compare mileage recorded in the BSI and whichever has the higher mileage is then used to set both to that mileage.
suggy instrument display.PNG
Original Part number was: 610338, original £584.45
This has now been replaced with part number: 9806132580 £898.81

There are 2 other screens, neither for your vehicle, one of which has a replacement matrix display, the other does not.

Neither of the other 2 screens are compatible with your vehicle.

So the part numbers I have supplied are the official part numbers for the instrument cluster.
