Hi all,
Does anybody know how to find out the model of the alternator without removing it ? Is it possible from the VIN ? I want to get one on ebay to fit but want to do a straight swap when I take the original off replace it straight away so I need the replacement in advance. It is for a 2008 c5 x7 tourer estate auto. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks.

You may find that there are several options fitted, but we can provide the official part number for you to match an aftermarket one against.

You can usually see the manufacturers label on the alternator without removing it although often requires a torch & mirror, it’s usually on the plastic end casing & may need a clean up to read it.
