Front lower wishbone
Hi All,
Over the past few weeks I've been chasing a clunking noise from the lower front.
Just changed the front lower axle bushes which has reduced the noise but still there.
Today I heard the clunk again whilst braking and traced this to the rear axle bush on the wishbone offside(right).
Still to check the nearside.
1. Can I have the up to date part numbers for front wishbones left and right, rear axle bush and front axle bush on wishbone ?
2. Is there a removal procedure for front wishbones
3. Is there a correct fitting procedure to align the rear axle bush onto the wishbone
As I recall for the Xantia if fitted incorrectly it would wear very quickly.
Thanks in advance
Kenny

Have you checked the bush in the second part of my post here?
viewtopic.php?p=592172#p592172
Clunking on braking and heavy acceleration or going over speed humps - but very hard to replicate unless on a lift and using a crowbar to simulate...
It will be easier for me if you list all the item numbers you want parts for from the diagram to save time Kenny:
The wishbones are referred to as the 'Front Suspension Lower Arms' for reference and replacement requires removal of left hand driveshaft (for that side), but the right hand driveshaft can be uncoupled by moving the front half axle upwards. The bolts can then be attacked and the front pivot supported.
"X" = 58 ± 5 mm.
Position the front suspension lower arm to the dimension "X".
Tighten:
The (3) bolt
The (2) bolt
The (1) bolt

Re: Front lower wishbone
Yes Marc I changed those ones which made an improvement but I managed to lever the rear bush on the arm and got too much movement plus it gave a clunk.
I just need to confirm the part no for the arms and any fitting procedure for the bush onto the arm.

Re: Front lower wishbone
You might want to have a look on the GSF website, with the possibility of signing up with them. They do have a discount scheme. I have bought a couple of wishbones for my facelift C5, and the normal price (for DriveTeq parts) was around £175 each. The discount code dropped that by over £100 each. I cannot say how good the quality is, so that might need to be considered.

Re: Front lower wishbone
Marc and James thanks for your replies,
You can get said arms on ebay for £70-£80 by reputable manufactures ie delphi febi QH etc but I was going to try to replace both bushes and refit.
Hence my asking about fitting rear bush and alignment. Video on youtube showing removal and refitting of bush but the guy did NOT align his the same as the one he took off. Ref to Xantia's suspension arms.
Since I'm having to do both I will take off the subframe and fit. Thus giving improved access!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm surprised this is not in a Haynes manual.

Re: Front lower wishbone
Well sub frame off and suspension arms off.
Offside (right) completely knackered, I was able to pull the front bush off, the rubber was almost detached from the alloy frame, incredible considering these were replace just over 2 years ago (suspension arms).
Nearside is nowhere near as bad but is difinitely on its way out. Will post photo's later
Replacement arms purchased to find I was given an earlier arm with different front bush (P shaped). But this appears to be no fault of the company as it was bagged with the correct part no on it. I suspect this has happened in the factory.
My only concern is what else is worn ? I've checked the best I can but can't see anything obvious.
Thoughts please
Kenny

Were these original OEM PSA wishbones? They're not cheap, but maybe that's for a reason?? If not, where did you get them from / what brand Kenny?

Borg Beck previous ones and QH the latest ones.
Here are the photo's
TOP photo nearside bottom offside.
My ride height is too high but the car compensates when driving.
I will need to lower it tomorrow.
What is the part no for the front antiroll bar lever ? I have found the following number 5273N3.

Re: Front lower wishbone - Fixed
Finally the front suspension is working beautifully.
After a bit of fiddling with the front height adjuster and measurements taken to set the suspension height.
One query what way are the front lower axle bushes fitted ? Is the collar to the front or rear ?
Looking at Citroen diagrams suggest to the front. Can anybody confirm same.
Suggestions on a post card to ...............................
