XM LHM Filter Clip Part Number

Unread post by wesacosa »

Hi
Would anyone be able to tell me the part number of the little clip which holds the LHM filters in place on a 1997 XM. Mine seems to be missing. Wondering how critical it is to have one, and if they are still available
thanks

If you talking about the little S shaped clip (number 9) the part number is 527107 but is showing as no longer available from Citroen.

Yes, the part is now NFP, but was fitted to the hydraulic reservoirs in all BX, Xantia and XM.
Anyone breaking one of these (eg EathanR - viewtopic.php?p=683148#p683148 ) should be able to help.

Otherwise it's a matter of looking at the classic Citroen specialists, such as citroenclassics.co.uk, Chevronics, Westroen, etc.

Alternatively, you may just be able to make one from a piece of wire, as it's a simple enough clip.
Filters just need holding securely in place; they are not under any significant pressure.
Sorry, but I can't find a photo of that specific bit.

Try asking citroenxm for that part. He has a lot of spares, and what have you got to lose?

Have you in the very very recent past done a LHM change and filter clean ?

It can get lost even if you know it is there, it could be in the tank itself if a previous owner has had the job done.
It is not much bigger than a paper clip so easy to get dropped into the tank if caught when removing the filter housing .

Part 4 is the Hydraulic Reservoir Block Plug - also not available from Citroen.

Hmm I don't think I see where part four would even go. I didn't see the clip in the tank but I did see a little disc

If you google "LHM reservoir filters" > images. lots of pics there of the innards.
(The older circular steel reservoir (BX etc) has exactly the same central gubbins.)

One of the pix there throws up this link to a post here:
viewtopic.php?p=365057#p365057
Click on the link in that post, to see a photo of CLIP #9.

Good, innit? \:D/

Cheers. I had a good look in the tank and so far as I can see its not there, although its a bit difficult to see due to that baffling in the tank. I assume that doesn't come out. I guess if I swill some petrol around inside it might get it if its stuck in some gunk behind those baffles

Better to remove the tank and wash it out (petrol) several times, so all the grot comes out.

And you might even get lucky and find that clip in the grot!
