Just bought a cheap 2007 C5, which is a late MK1 facelift model.
Problem is the (dual zone) heater had the usual problem with the flaps but it now seems that a previous owner has absolutely trashed the whole unit trying to insert new flaps so I need to get a complete replacement heater.
Question is ... is that dual zone heater unit the same as the early MK1 (I've got a 2003) or the same as the later 2008-on MK2 or the same as any particular Peugeot (407, I guess) but which years ???
It's a very low-mileage 1.6HDi and in really good condition apart from that so willing to spend a reasonable amount.
Thanks

Re: C5 2007 heater
Assuming you're talking about the housing unit, these are completely different units and are not compatible. Even the 407 version of the housing that looks similar to the MK II C5 is different in certain areas - especially at the side with the control mechanisms.
Having had a check on the Bi Zone system for the MK II C5, there are no other vehicles coming up with this part number, ditto for Peugeot.

Thanks, Marc ... I was hopeful but obviously not this time as finding one is proving a nightmare ... breakers don't want to have to take the dash out of the car !

Re: C5 2007 heater
One thing, Marc, do you have the part no for the unit (the box that contains the matrix and flaps) for the 2004-2007 facelift C5, please ??

Re: C5 2007 heater
Hi Sam, I can get you the part numbers, but please note we are charged by PSA for data now, so ask for a £10 Forum donation for live parts data and parts diagrams. This will cover you for up to 2 years though if you need any other parts info.
If interested, see details and links below, and then just pop your VIN up that will be auto masked from public view on post submission.

Hi Sam, thanks for the donation - your member status has 'hulked out' and gone green.
So item (1) which includes the housing (A) and the Refrigeration Pressure Release Valve (2) is as per part numbers below and costs £1020.86 inc. VAT from Citroen as of today.
6450RH: Evaporator Housing
6461J7: Refrigeration Pressure Release Valve
So you can at least search on this to see if you can get a second hand part.

sam3b an easy way to allow admins to have your Vin so they do not have to ask or search for it is to pop it in your car details in your profile, it will be masked as in mine.
And welcome to the forum, you are in good hands here, not mine but everyone else's
Colin

Re: C5 2007 heater
Thank you, Marc and Colin
What I hope is a final couple of simple (for you) questions ...
I located a 2nd-hand heater box (complete and with new flaps) from The Netherlands at a very fair price and with 6 months guarantee (they checked the VIN and it matches) ... arrived yesterday.
Can you tell me the part numbers for the 4 stepper motors (I'm guessing they're all the same) and also, when installing them, how do I synch the position of the flaps with the setting of the temperature (for the lower mixer motors) and the positioning (for the upper air direction motors) when installing them ???
Million thanks in advance ...

Re: C5 2007 heater
Hi Sam
Nicely done.
As for the Motor Reducers, they are 2 types fitted as you can see below.
Item (1) is part: 6447RF
Item (2) is part: 6447RJ
Here's a guide on removing and refitting them including the Air Quality Sensor:
Removing
Reduction motors for distribution and mixing flaps (left side)
Reduction motors for distribution and mixing flaps ( right hand side)
Air Quality Sensor
Refitting

Re: C5 2007 heater
That's brilliant as usual, Marc ... very many sincere thanks. Synching the motors was worrying me a bit as I had no reference points to work from (incidentally, you've shown the mixer motor so is it the same for the distribution motor or is that more simple/complex as there appear to be stops to prevent the flaps going to far in either direction ... or is it, like the mixer, having the flat on the spline set centrally with the flaps and electrical switches also centralised ??).

Re: C5 2007 heater
This is the only method so should apply to both Air Mixing and Air Distribution Motors Sam, so they should only go on one way.

Re: C5 2007 heater
Great ... I'll practice before bolting it all together
Incidentally, the Dutch company is Bart Ebben near Nijmegen and they're Peugeot/Citroën dealers plus being 2nd-hand parts specialists. As usual, everything's in English on their website and they speak it, too. Prices include shipping.

Re: C5 2007 heater
Final update (I hope).
In the end I didn't feel up to doing it all on my own so got the Citroën specialist "Paul Clifford Motor Services" in Wingham (bit east of Canterbury) to replace it. Excellent, professional job; very, very reasonable price; looks and feels like new. Showed me the old box ... really trashed by someone trying to install new flaps by cutting but holes were far too small and they simply gave up.
Thanks for all your help and advice and I'd really recommend Paul Clifford ... they certainly know Citroëns inside out
