Tool advice

Unread post by moizeau »

This probably is posted in the wrong section but I couldn't find an obvious place to put it.
A lot of bolts on my Dispatch are 'inverse torx' so you'd need a female torx socket.
What sizes should I be looking for in a set? The caliper bolts are a similar size to a 14mm hex and the subframe are larger. Looking online I have no idea what the sizes refer to?
Cheers
Pete

That will vary according to the bolt type, so trial and error I'm afraid. Some cylinder head bolts for instance may have 10 mm shanks and some 8mm but with the same size torx head.

Hi!
Hope it is of some help. I've always found it useful to know the mm sizes of torx heads. The metric screw stem, as Gibbo said, often varies, since one torx head can accommodate different stem diameters. The most usual ones are listed here too.

I have a long cylinder head stretch bolt here, I've just checked against your chart, it has an E14 head but the screw is only 9mm so as I said not always as you would expect.
